Default Any experience with using Clay Bar on Windshield/Other Glass

Certain sunlight the windshield really shows tree sap, light scratches and other air borne stuff... several questions

1. Any members used clay on their glass and what was the experience..difficult to use..apply..remove? worth the effort?

2. Is there a special type of clay to use or can any be used?

3. Auto Geek sells a special auto glass kit with clay from Dynamite is it worth the $50?

Thanks to all

I use the claybar from the Zaino kit I have and then use this;

The Z18 claybar is 18 bucks for two nice sized pieces, the glass polish is 13 bucks. Both work very well.

You can use the finer grade clay on the glass or even "00" or finer steel wool. Just dont press to hard when using the wool. A light touch is all that is needed.

Go to the Diamondite website.
They make a line of spray clay and a whole window cleaning system

I'll take your word for it on steel wool but that would scare me....probably not even 0000.

Try the polish. The Autogeek.net guys will take care of you. You may also want to check the car care section here.

I've used Mother's Clay Bar on my windsheild on several occassions. It works fantastic and it's easy to find at a local store. I used water to keep everything slick but you could use the showtime spray or anything similar.

I don't know if this is safe, but I've done it on other cars.

One of the ways to tell if a windshield is clean is to see if a paper towel will slide down it. Even after using Stoners, mine may not.

I've gone to Target and gotten the ceramic glass cook top cleaner there and used it on other windshields to take off the wiper build up at the end of each blade's travel. It works.

As said above, the key is not to scrub but to be as gentle as possible. And rinse like crazy!!!!! After all, it is a very fine abrasive and you DON'T want to leave it on there for the next swipe of the blades!!!

I have used Bonami for decades on glass. It work excellent. It's well proven and cost about a buck a can.
