MGW short throw Install + Pics
#82
I used the stock **** on mine and it is as quiet as can be. THe hardest part of the install for me was getting the bezel off - I was afraid it would break before finally coming loose. It took almost as long to get the bezel off as the rest of the install!. Went back together easily. Great shifter - I'm really glad I made the mod.

Gonna do it but waiting to also get the console & boot so they'll go on at the same time. Also, may take the couple of hour trip to Augusta for George to install. I do have a question however. With the stock shifter, it always goes to the "center" position and makes it nice and easy when shifting into third. Is this also the case with the MGW?

I have an 09 that I always thought shifted pretty good. It started to get notchy so I installed an MGW.
The MGW WILL do a better job finding third, especially during faster shifts.
The reduction in throw is great.
Mine has very little rattle / noise and only under very hard throttle conditions, during which I am paying attention to many other things.
It's a great mod.

Alright, alright. Even though I said I wasn't going to mod (Besides RF spoiler, PAL, Hoen bulbs and tint.) my Z06. I ordered an MGW. Seems like a great company to do business with and my new shifter should be here tomorrow.
Thanks OP for this informative thread.

I see that the shift boot can be swaped out without taking the console off from a couple of sites (DSVettes for one) but is it recommendable to do it while the console is off? Reason I'm asking is I'm getting ready to finally pull the trigger on the MGW and also the '08 console. If it's best to install the shift boot at this time, I'll need to wait a little while longer before the install. Otherwise, I can install it at a later date.

Well I just bit the bullet and finally ordered the MGW from George and a new '08 console also. Should have them by the end of the week but don't know when I'll be doing the install. Now, as procrastination goes, wonder if I should be waiting to do the install until I can also get a DSV shift ****/boot & e-brake handle/boot?

I installed my MGW shifter without any problems until I tried to put the screw in the ****. I couldn't push the boot down enough to clear the screw hole . Did any one else have this problem? It was on a 08 with the stock boot.
