Starting with the 2008 cars all now have an x-pipe standard which replaces the H-pipe.

I got one of the first '08's last summer, and it HAS an X. Better go to the dealer.

It was supposed to be all 2008 cars starting with the production build the end of June and continuing forward. Here is a comparison photo.

The new factory x-pipe on the left and the 2005-2007 H-pipe on the right.

Man, you have a lot of spare parts hanging out by the wood shed Paul.

Was there a difference in X vs. H pipe in '08 models with NPP vs. stock exhaust respectively?

No, that's not mine. It is a photo that another forum member had posted on the forum. I'm like a chipmunk, if I see something that might be useful I save it for reference. There should not be a difference in the NPP vs. non NPP cars. All should have the stamped x-pipe.

I thought so, but started thinking otherwise when I read the post by toxin440.

They are supposed to be better. The only advantage comes in the reduced flow and backpressure at the crossover. You can see in the photo above that the exhaust gasses would take a sharp turn at the "H" in order to balance. With the "X" crossover the the flow would be less restrictive.

This all is contingent on the X/H pipe being the most retrictive portion of the exhaust at that point. The X pipe will reduce the burble and pop of an aftermarket exhaust. The 2005-2007 intake and exhaust was tuned with the H pipe in mind so I'm can't imagine any gain with an X pipe on the older system.

I probably won't go to the dealer and get it screwed with... I'm planning on getting a set of LG Longtubes with Cats and an Xpipe here in a few months anyway. Since I was going that route before I found out about the 08s having Xpipes I don't mind. If im going aftermarket anyways that will save me dropping my Z06 off at some dealer that might F the car up.

I got the B&B Fusion system on my '08 last Tuesday and "saved" having to buy an X pipe to eliminate the popping. Cool.

X pipe is used by NASCAR today in all its cars exhaust systems. Improved Scavanging. Good enough for NASCAR good enough for me!

Only in diameter size, stock 2 1/4 inches vs. NPP 2 1/2 inches.

FYI - Don't count on the x-pipe eliminating the popping.
My axle back Borla Stingers pop plenty on my '08.
