Is Run Flat safe after repair????
I have a nail head showing on the right rear about 1.5"s from the inside. If it is properly patched will the tire still be safe a higher speeds?

I believe they pull the tire, put a patch on the inside and use a plug in the hole.

The typical patch is mushroom shaped, so that it contains an integral plug filling the hole itself, along with a broader patch bonded to the inside of the tire.
A critical step of the repair process is a full inspection of the carcass for any evidence of damage from the heat of operating without air. The technician should have had some training in what to look for.

Go to an authorized RunFlat Goodyear dealer. Over the past nine years, I've had 11 RunFlat repairs, with no problems. The last one was this morning, on a rear '08 Z06 tire. PITA.

Burning Brakes
I had an authorized repair on the left rear done at my local Discount Tire store a year ago. I ran it up to 125 mph at Texas Motor Speedway a couple of months ago with no probelm.
If a shop tells you that a RF tire can't be repaired (unless the puncture is close to the sidewall) go elsewhere.

Melting Slicks
I had to patch a RR after 700 miles. You shouldn't have any problems on the street though if you are planning any high-speed track days it's not recommended to run a patched tire due to the extreme heating and cooling of the carcass.
I'd rather be thinking about setting up the next apex rather that worrying about a patched tire, speaking from experience.

I had a screw in my RR tire at 750 miles. The local Corvette dealer vulcanized (hot patch) a patch on the inside. All the tire dealers I called including a GY dealer (not RR certified) told me that I needed a new tire because it was not repairable.

If it's close to the sidewall, you're out of luck.

Goodyear Speed-Rated Tire Repair Limits
II. DETAILED POLICY - Puncture Repair of Goodyear Speed-Rated Tires
The puncture must be confined to the tread area only.
(See "Repair Area", item III-B).
Restrictions on the number and size of repairs must be followed.
(See "Puncture Repair Limits" table, item III-C).
A detailed repair procedure must be followed.
(See "Repair Procedure", item III-E).
A Goodyear speed-rated new tire repaired in strict accordance with items II-A, B & C, will retain its speed rating.
III. REPAIR PROCEDURE FOR SPEED-RATED TIRES
GENERAL
The objective of the puncture repair is to seal the tire against loss of inflation pressure and to prevent damage to the carcass from moisture. In all puncture repairs approved by Goodyear, the hole must be filled with a plug, and a patch covering the hole must be applied according to repair material manufacturer instructions to the inside of the tire. Never repair tires which are worn below 2/32" tread depth.
NOTE: No tire is to be repaired without first being removed from the rim.
REPAIR AREA
Repairing is limited to the tread area only within the outside grooves. No repairs are allowed in the tread area beyond the outside grooves or sidewall.
