Default Best back seat car alternative to Vette?

Our weekend rides often involve our dogs and the Vette may not be the best option for me as much as I want one.

What would be the best back seat option car that's "Vette like"?
I like the GTO but heard that gas mpg is horrible and I'm not very excited about a 4spd automatic (should I go auto).
The new Pontiac G8? Charger/Challenger (all crappy mpg...but if it's a weekend car...)

Thanks.....

Yes the GTO does make bad gas mileage. I get 13-14 city and 19-21 highway (if I'm lucky). It is a comfortable car though.

I LOVE those....my g/f thinks they're too Dukes of Hazzard looking.....I'm sure mpg will be horrid though and there's gas guzzler tax......but I could probably find a good deal on one used.
No black though.......too high maintenance color..

I'm trading my '05 Hemi Magnum for a C6 this week. The magnum has been a great car with lots of room. We'll be using the wife's Jetta for the weekend trips with the daughter and dog.

The new Chevy Colbalt SS with the turbo is a pocket rocket! I got to test drive one, it's a nutty little car, has the back seats and handles really good! The gas mileage is not to bad either. The back seat my be a tad too small for your dogs, though.

If gas os not an issue, I would say maybe the Dodge Charger SRT8 (Challenger is better looking IMO, but markup is stuill high on those), or even possibly the Caddy CTS.

If you can hold out, I'd go for the Camaro.

I had an '04 Cadillac CTS-V before my C6. It is a great car and a lot of fun to drive.

How big are your dogs? My 45 pound english pointer fits comfortably in the back of my C6.
