Hurry up and get rid of of it before you start to change..............OH, Wait, On second thought give me i call I'll take it off your hands. Maybe you should go out and buy a EVO or something like that to make yourself feel better (younger.)
Hey man, these guys are you in about 20yrs. As far as age appropriate, I've had one (used of course) since I was 15. Now, at age 37, I get my first new one in a couple of weeks (10-20 TPW). By the way, spell check is the upper right of the dialog replay box, but I dont know how to use it either.
I am 26 and on my second vette. Almost all local owners are much older than me but one thing I have noticed is....no matter how much of an age difference there is between you and another owner, the conversation is always the same. Love knows no boundries (or age limits). I will admit that you old farts know your stuff though. lol I shouldn't laugh to much; I know I will be there one day looking down my nose at some young punk who thinks he is pimp in his ride that he could only afford because they let him finance it for 9 years.
I JUST BOUGHT A 2008 CORVETTE ABOUT 6 MONTS AGO ...O YEA IM 38 YEARS OLD ..ALL THE CORVETTE CLUBS I LOOKED IN TO .. )))WELL((( ALL THE VETTE OWNERS WERE IN THERE 60'S AND UP ...DID I BY AN OLD PERSONS CAR ????
IMO, 38 is old. So you in fact bought the appropriate car
I'm 25, and I haven't seen a single C6 owner under 40 yet. I get alot of envious looks from 40+ men in their pickup/minivan/camry and when they see how old I am with my Mariners hat sideways they start hatin'. That feels good
When you get to 38, you'll look back and see how stupid you looked with your hat turned sideways.
Uh, I remember 38....20 years ago. What is it exactly that you are expecting or looking for? You are old by the standards of late teens or early to mid 20 somethings.
Among all the "OLD" people you will find a huge wealth of knowledge and experience about the vette going back way before you were around.
You will also find that most of these ancient used up old farts grew up with manual transmissions hooked to big blocks. Take one of these senior to a track and you might find they are your better when it comes to getting a lot of hp off the line. Then they can teach you how to power shift cause they learned when they were 16.
I like people in their late 30s. It turns out that by that age most are settled, have a good bit of relevant life experience, and have toned down the max aggressiveness of a much younger man.
You might find some really good friends among those older than you. You might find ....well, give it a chance.
It is more economics and the children now like the Mustangs and those little go-cart like cars from japan. You know the fast and furious type children with those stupid little movies they made about the suicide machines and the kids that drive them.
I bought my corvette at 34. I do seem to be one of the fewer guys that are under 40, but the guys that are older still have the same thing in common with me... We all like cars and love our corvettes. Age doesn't mean anything! There are plenty of cool folks aged 20-100! Give the older guys a chance. You might be pleasantly suprised
My Corvette club is also fairly "mature"--as one in his 40s, I am one of the kids-in-the-club, or so it appears. However, this was also true of the Porsche Club and Ferrari Owners Group. Go to a HOG (Harley Owners Group) meeting and you'll see the same...except for the tattoos and gray ponytails.
The key to bringing down the average age is simple...get your friends to buy Corvettes and join the club. Many of the long-time members will become great resources as you learn to maximize the enjoyment not only of the car, but the Corvette culture as a hobby.
lol too young @ 38? i was 27 when i purchased this one earlier this 08 earlier this year and tried a 02' C5z last year... at nearly over the hill you fit the "midlife crisis" stereotype just perfect imo
