Melting Slicks
Haven't read all the responses....
My wife has the 300 SRT-8 and I am really impressed with it. I wish it was my daily driver. She is getting 19/20 mpg combined city / highway which is really good. I would be in the low teens if it was me. It has lots of techno gadgets and has some pretty good power. The car is really big and moves pretty good with the big hemi.
I'm not into buying new cars because I rather have someone else eat the depreciaiton. We bought her car with 20k miles for $23k, brand new they were $43k. I bought my 2006 Vette with 6k miles this past April for $33k.
Since you are asking about resale value, I can only assume you are planning on selling either car in the next 2 to 5 years? I would recommend buying either car used and I belive the vette will hold it's value better.

Look at the video i posted, its a stock SRT and a stock C6. Now when you say that the Vette is a much better car, i agree. When you that the two should not be compared, its apples and oranges,i agree. But to call it slow and a minivan is just ridiculous and if your gonna get an SUV, get the Jeep SRT8 and you'll beat the brakes off of any stock Trailblazer SS you come across. Its all wheel drive and runs consistant 12's. And a G8? Please, its no problem for any SRT8. Im just a un-bias car lover thats gives respect where its due, regardless of the car.

Theres NO way a 300 SRT8 will beat a C6 corvette in a drag race, both cars being STOCK. Its all physics. 400 HP 3200 LBS car VS. 425HP 4000LBS car. You do the math.

Drifting
many of you are so intensely wrong. the SRT8 is a performance car. go to an SRT8 track event and you will see. once again, its nothing compared to a Vette, but it is intensely impressive.

I just love these apples to oranges posts. People need to step back and think of what kind of car they are looking for. When I went looking for a Corvette, mostly 2 seat cars were on my list (SLK55, Cayman, C6, Lotus).

What the hell are brother wheels? You sound very stereotypical, are you a racist or something? To the other blind guy who said it's impossible for a Srt to beat a C6, the video speaks for itself and there are many others so look them up.

I'll roll race any 05-07 C6 and I guarantee it won't end the way you think it will. I'm in Georgia, look me up and bring a video recorder. Like I said, Vettes are the best sports car built, hands down, but you guys are living in a fantasy world if you think you walk over a Srt in a stock C6 unless it's a 08. Pm me if your in Ga.
