Maxie Price laid me off this week.....
Due to the economy and slow sales I was laid off by Maxie this week. Last Fri. they had to cut my pay by 33% and on Wen. of this week they cut it again by 50% more and canceled everyone's ins. coverage so I could no longer afford to stay.
I will take the weekend to explore my options. I am afraid I will not be the only one to have to go thru this.

I sympathize, but I want to clear something up - you were or were not "laid off"? From what you wrote, it's obvious that your employer cut your wages and benefits to the point where it made no sense for you to stay. I get that. But, they didn't actually let you go, did they? You weren't officially terminated? Or, were you? Just curious.

I'm not trying to be picky, but there is a difference between the two - most notably whether you can, for example, apply for unemployment benefits.

You are in my thoughts and prayers Sir. Best of luck to you during this difficult time.

First off, Rick, I am sorry for your loss of employment regardless of the way it came about.
I work for a Chevrolet dealer and this is what it's come to recently for alot of salespeople.
What it shows everyone here is that Forum and non Forum dealers who fight all day long to sell Corvettes and other products at net, net figures really comes back to bite someone in the a$$. How long can a dealer continually sell and make relatively no money and continue to support a sales staff with benefits, salary and etc. before they have to make cuts? Now it really hits home as I see you on the forum all the time.
Yours is a perfect example of that. I just hope that Maxie Price was paying the fee for forum sponsorship and it wasn't coming out of your pocket.
Be well and hopefully you can find something real quick.

Unfortunately, I have to agree.
My local dealer, David Penske, just shut their doors. Lot looks like it's been empty for 10 years. A real depressing scene.

Best of luck Rick. Hopefully you'll find even better work soon. Anyone who has ever lost their job feels your pain.

When you are laid off, you are entitled to job employment insurance of wihch your employer pays part of.. When you "quit", you forfeit these benefits.

And if your Corvette needs service anytime soon, you better get on the stick. According to members in the C6 Z06 Discussion forum, service techs across the country are also being laid off.
