Here in North Florida I get around 21-23 mpg in combined driving. I have taken 2 extended trips. From Jax to Stuart and back I got 30.9. This included a little running around off the interstate. In September I went to the UF/UT football game in Knoxville. I filled up after the game and drove straight back. My mileage was 31.8 mpg, all interstate, with the cruise at around 75.

You guys must have a different car than me...I get 18-22 mpg in the city and about 23-25 mpg on the hwy. I'm happy with that, but I have never seen 30mpg even when I have driven long distances on the hwy at moderate speeds. My car is an 05 MN6 Z-51. Only performance mods are a Vararam intake, borla exhaust and a tune. My gas mileage was the same even before the performance mods and widebody conversion.

My '08 Vette is the worst of all possible configurations: 4LT, A6, and performance rear axle and I still get 29 mpg at a steady 70 mph. (The DIC says 30, but it reads a little high, based on actual measurement of many tankfuls of gas. Of course, that assumes the odometer is right; I know the speedo is very close.)

I've gotten 30+ on many long highway trips. My last LONG trip started out at Road America Wis (Elkhart Lake) and I drove 451 miles w/o fueling. When I tanked up I was surprised it only took 14.9 gallons or an ACTUAL 30.26 MPG.
I've got 31+ on a dedicated "fuel mileage" run from a local gas station to Effingham (Mid-America Motor Sports) and back home about 160 miles R/T.
This was in my lightly modded (intake/exhaust) 2006 Z51 equipped M6.
So it's not only TRUE but very easily achievable. BTW the DIC was off by .5 MPG (reading high at 30.7 MPG) on my Road America run.

Doubt my '09 would get 30 due to 430 hp, but my '00 C-5 has gotten just a shade under 32 mpg (by actual measuremnet not DIC) at a steady 70 - 75 mph

Absolutely...on certain legs of an Interstate trip I averaged 31 mpg with my stock C6. My in-town mileage is significantly lower but on the Interstate...you can 'idle' along in 6th gear at 75-80 mph. To keep it in perspective, on a road course I get around 5 mpg.
I don't race around on the streets but I'm not a 'conservative' driver either. It's amazing a high performance Corvette can get better gas mileage than so many other cars on the road. Who says American car makers are lacking? GM did an incredible job with the Corvette!

I picked up my 08 A6 Z51 convertible from Corvettes of Houston last July and immeadiately started the trip home to Seattle. The car is stock, stock, stock! Still with the top down (my faorite way to go), I was able to usually knock down 27 or so at 80mph. I'm talking miles driven divided by gallons consumed. Never really trusted the instant mileage monitors on cars. They always seem a little optimistic to me. I'm sure I could have done better had I slowed down and put the top up.

Last week I drove from Twentynine Palms, CA to Corpus Christi, TX over two days. First day through CA, AZ and NM with moderate traffic I averaged 27 MPG. Second day through TX with the cruise set at 84ish, I averaged 29+ MPG with light traffic.
Return trip next week....

The car is my daily driver, and overall average, which is street, freeway and major LA traffic, is 19~20 mpg.
Some who claim questionable high mileage are not resetting the DIC at time of fill up. Some reset it everytime they get in the car. This will give you bad numbers.

I have a '06, A6, Z51 and can easily get 28 to 30+ on the highway. Unless you have a lot of mountains to travel thru you should be able to get this same mileage. A lot of the posts I see were traveling on fairly level routes. Were did you measure you mileage? If you are driving without CC and ease into the throttle and let off easily you should get fairly good mileage in the mountains.

Both numbers same as my '99 C5. Stop and go these cars are relative gas hogs.

Brand new motor not broken in yet in a 2008 C6 A6 trip back from Maxie Price, Loganville, GA to Long Island, NY. I got 29.5 with the A/C on with no cruise control. I was told by Rick from Maxie Price to vary the speed to break in the motor and not use cruise control.

I once got 31MPG with the A6 and performance 2.73 rear driving 60-65 for 100 miles. This was during break-in.
Now that I know I can do it, I just drive......ENJOY the car and don't worry so much about mileage.
