Ipod Interface Install
They are starting up production now and plan to have it available in February. If you aren't familiar with the lockpick, it might be worth looking at. I bought one for my toyota and could get playlist info from the nav, use the nav while driving, watch dvd's while driving, and it even disabled the "agree" button. It worked quite well and provided added RCA inputs in case I wanted to add something else like a gaming console or dvd player.

CTHusker - Have you posted your install for the iSimple yet as promised?

I highly recommend reading and following this members install procedure because it's perfect. I would carefully review the CONTROL function instructions because it's a little confusing at first. What you see on the Nav doesn't match what you see on your ipod for controlling things like play lists, etc. However once you play around with it for awhile it's actually very easy to use. The iSimple did keep all functions including XM just as promised.
The sound quality is at least as good as my CD's so I'm very happy. I'm now waiting for the special ipod cradle which will allow me to simply drop in the ipod in it and I'm good to go. I will post some pictures of the cradle and install if anyone is interested.
I'm happy with the iSimple because it's a very easy install and it works exactly as advertised. I'm thrilled because I will have access to over a 1000 tunes while cruising in my vette and no CD's to deal with.
Does the IPOD cable you bought for yout Gen 2 Touch fits at the bottom of the device holder?
Mike.

You're right...works EXACTLY as advertised! I did have a moment immediately after installation where I couldn't get the SEEK to cycle to the function modes (AUX1, AUX2, IPOD, SAT). It would only stay on AUX1. It took me awhile to realize that you can only cycle during the first 3-4 seconds after switching to XM from another function (AM, FM, CD, etc.).
Anyway, once I got that under control, I was a bit frustrated that I couldn't remember what each of the control buttons did - mainly because the buttons still had the XM labels.
My solution, while not perfect, seems to work pretty well and I thought I'd share. Go into iTunes and create six new playlists: REWIND, FAST FORWARD, BROWSE, BACK ONE STEP, ************ and RANDOM. You will need to put at least one song in each one to make them valid playlists. Then sync your iPod via iTunes. Next step is to plug your iPod back into the iSimple harness in the car and cycle through the available playlists using the #3 button (BROWSE). Follow the necessary steps to select each of the new playlists in turn. When each one is selected, press and hold the appropriate XM button to re-program that button to match whatever verbage is currently displayed. The only drawback is that each button comes up with "PL:" in front of the playlist name. For example, each button should look something like this:
PL: REWIND
PL: FAST FORWARD
PL: BROWSE
PL: BACK ONE STEP
PL: ************
PL: RANDOM
Like I said, not perfect but better than what I had. Hope this helps...if not, sorry for the long post...

If you mean do I lose the button labels I've made, I do not. They remain each time I enter XM/IPOD mode.

In XM, do you still have the preset that you had setup? When you go back to IPOD, I assume your labels stay based on what you have said.
Any pix?
Thanks!
