Default Is a C6 Navigation Firmware Update Possible?

I can't help but wonder why GM hasn't come out with a new firmware to update the NAV for all the C6's? You would think that they would be able to improve on the look and feel of the system with a tweak to the firmware. I have an 08. By chance, has any of the previous Nav's had firmware updates I am unaware of?

Not for Navigation. 05's had an update to allow them to play mp3 songs on the CD player.

Yes it is possible (at least to some extent). However, it has nothing to do with GM, it is Denso who manufactures the unit and has the contract with GM.

They need more than firmware, the roads are not current, there are roads that have been built years ago and STILL NOT on the new version. This system stinks.

The map data comes from TeleAtlas, not GM. You can report roads not in the database to TeleAtlas. http://www.teleatlas.com/Support/MapFeedback/index.htm

TeleAtlas supplies to: Ford, General Motors, Lexus, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Toyota, among others.

All of GM's technical resources have been allocated to developing an iPod PAL in accordance with their 10 year plan for that item. Expect firware updates to take a back seat until then.

Then GM needs another contract, not another lame excuse for an inferior product. It was GM who took $2,800 from the customer for the Navigation Radio, not Denso.

Thanks for the update, can you imagine trying to update ALL of their oversites when you travel all over the USA. For example, some of the concrete streets now have pot holes in them and they are not listed even now. Many others in previous posts have complained of missing streets for years. If I listed all the mistakes that I have found with their maps, I wouldn't have much time to drive my Vette. I have even had it telling me to turn into NON-existent roads in the country, sometimes they were farmer's gates. Sorry, when you are retired and traveling, you get to see more of their mistakes.
