Default How many different paint codes are there for machine silver?

I'm getting my top replaced under factory warranty because it is trying to be a convertible without me. I just made the chilly trip back from the dealer to view my newly painted top. And even from the reflection of a lot light I can tell it doesn't match color.

Are there different color options for an 06 painted to a brilliant machine silver?? I can't wait for them to call tomorrow and tell me it is finished.

The tops (and mirrors) aren't painted at Bowling Green like the rest of the car, they are painted by the supplier and shipped to BG already painted.

Just 1 GM color code for Machine Silver Metallic, and that's 67U. The touch up paint number is WA-994L.

Maybe the match will be better when the paint dries.

I would think 2-3 days should be enough. I'd also try to look at the match under varying light conditions, both artificial light and sunlight.

This is odd since color-matched aftermarket items being painted by outside vendors such as RPI Designs (e.g. color-matched door handles; tag frames; rear spoilers) match Machine Silver cars perfectly, mine included.

Clear coat application could also change this...

Silver is a tough match anyway. When the top is painted, they would also have to blend into the halo so you wouldn't notice a slight mismatch.

Had my top painted only. Matches perfectly without a blend.

I'm thinking this is what happened. Cause today it is much different. I asked and they didn't shoot the clear until this morning.

Mine matches great as well. Well enough I'm probably gonna have them paint the wide booty fenders for me.
