Default Shell gas additive

To those who use Shell gas i was fueling up my truck and noticed a banner at the station 'NEW NITROGEN ENRICHED' Shell Gasoline,
i asked the attendant if he had any info about this and he gave me a small phamplet it explains that this additive is for keeping gunk buildup on the valves and injectors, "Shell V-power is our best gasoline containing the highest concentration of our new Nitrogen enriched cleaning system".
So i wonder if this is a replacement additive for Techron which helps eliminate the sulpher buildup on the gauge sending unit?
Also there was nothing on there website about this yet.
Any chemist's onboard to chime in?

I havnt seen this yet here in Arizona. I believe Techron is used by Chevron/Texaco and not Shell.

I did a search, and it shows a release in March. It is supposed to clean up gunk.

Maybe they started it in New Jersey.

Well, since I live close enough to Jersey to drive over & buy gas there
( it's 20 cents cheaper per gallon, plus they pump it for you ) I would assume that the nitrogen additive is the same fertilizer they spread all over the fields to get those great tomatoes !!

I was using Shell in my Vette exclusively because it is a Top Tier listed gasoline. I was getting a lot of soot buildup on the butt of the car. I tried Sunoco 93 and the soot problem went away. Perhaps this new formulation will help reduce the soot on the back of the car. I'm also going to get a PCM reflash in the spring since I have an early '08. Maybe the reflash to a newer trim will help.

Keep us posted.

I use Citgo in the Vette, as it's the highest rated octane around here @ 93. Our local Shell is 91, and the Speedway around the corner, is also 91. Then we have the cheap no name stations, won't even touch that gas.

From what I hear, Shell is a 'top tier' gasoline.
Here are a few links.

Toptier gas is a marketing website.

We all know Shell and other oil companies use each others gas right?

We also know that continued use of one companies additive (techron for example) builds it own set of deposits in your Corvette.

Here is my source. Enjoy.

Okay, I've got to say this. Drive by a tank farm, where the gas is stored and you will see large 8M gallon storage tanks and none of them say 'Shell', "Citgo", or "Sams whatever". So when the truck pulls up to get a load for his Shell station he is pulling product from the SAME tank that went in the truck for no-name gas co. Its the SAME gas folks. The very same. Marketing is a wonderful thing and makes us buy things we don't really need. But, it does keep the economy going. So keep up the good work.Don't tell me about the additives, because the amount is minimal - about a quart /truck load.

I understand that all gas comes from the same supplier, but I also understand that each brand(Shell, Sunoco etc) puts their own additives into the fuel. I simply go with the highest octane that is posted on the pump. Right, or wrong, that's what I do for my own piece of mind.

Very interesting article however, I TOTALLY disagree with the last sentence regarding leaving a stored car with as little gas as possible. I was on a aircraft carrier in charge of avaition fuels. A storage tank
(40,000 gallons)left full over night might have 200-400 gallons of water in it from condensation the next day where as one with only 5,000 gallons in it would have 800-1,000 gallons of water in it, thus if you don't want water in your fuel and gas tank (rust) fill it as full as possible before storage.

Good article. Notice how he said 'if you store your corvette leave as little gas in it as possible.'

*sorry wrecks, I got side tracked typing and never saw your post.
