Dupli-Color Brake Caliper paint kit...
Anyone used this with any success? 25 bucks in red. how close is it to Victory Red? I would love to get them powdercoated BUT i can't justify it. Any reviews on the Dupli-Color? it says you can just tape off and brush paint the caliper while its on? true?

works great powder coating give a more even finish at a higher price I wanted red calipers did not care if they were not perfect go slow and follow the directions and buy a brush instead of the one included in the kit. Put chapstick or vaseline on the corvette insignia and scrape when dry with a straight edge razor

I used it, it worked great for me. Ocasionally you have to go back and touch up a tiny spot, but that kit comes with plenty of paint to keep and use for touch ups. I seen that Advanced Auto had the same kit for $17 just this weekend. Send me a PM with your email address, and I will shoot you a pic of mine.

Burning Brakes
Did mine this way three years ago. They still look great. Did it with the calipers on the car. I just taped the rotors and brake pads and chap stick on the corvette lettering (this allows you to wipe off the paint). Took about one hour for each wheel counting taking wheel off and putting them back on. Put three coats of paint on each caliper. Buy a better brush if you use the kit. You will have a lot of product left over for touch ups on the calipers or to paint your hood pad. Victory Red is a very good match IMO. A very easy project. Leif

I've had it on mine for several years. Looks great.
I know many people recommend putting something on the lettering, but this really isn't necessary. The duplicolor comes off the letters very easily with just a razor blade. Took me less than a minute per caliper with nothing on the letters.

Here is a very detailed Dupli Color caliper DIY. Read it carefully because he admits he goes overboard. You don't have to do what he did but it is a good tutorial:

Like the others said buy a GOOD BRUSH ! I bought the foam ones from the hardware store ....BIG MISTAKE !! The paint dries VERY QUICK and the foam brush hardens. Buy a good horse hair brush and while you have the wheels off go ahead clean, sand, and paint the rotor hats and inner ring this solved alot of the rust build up issues in these area's.This is a good time to wash the inner barrels while the wheels are off also.I used a hair dryer at the low setting to speed the paint drying time.I used a razor to to remove the excess paint from the lettering on the calipers.

My hat is off to all of you who got the paint-on Dupli-Color kit to work; I never quite got it right. Ended up kind of steaky and blotchy so I stripped the calipers down to bare metal, then used painter's tape to mask them off and opted for the Dupli-Color "red" spray paint. (The Dupli-Color red is a very close match for VR.)
Turned out very well - nice and even application that has proven to be durable. I would recommend at least two coats (I ended up using three) but the results look like factory red Z06 calipers.
Took most of a Saturday to do all four (99% prep). Once the paint was completely dry, I used an emory board to file off the paint from the Corvette word on the fronts. I'll post some pix in the morning.

I bought this kit on sale at Walmart 3-4 years ago for $10 but never used it. I just picked up an '09 G8 GT and thought about using this kit on those calipers. Hope the paint is still O.K. The box says "With Ceramic". Anybody venture a guess on that? I may try to use it when the weather warms up.
