I went to open my glove box this morning and the latch fell off in my hand. Anyone else had this happen and know the fix/cause? My warranty just ran out in January too.

yes, it happens. mine was under warranty as have been a lot of CF members. I think it's a five dollar part, if that.

I bought a used 2008 last month and the latch broke off in my hand the day the car was delivered. The "paddle" you pull with your hand snapped off from the glove compartment. Repaired under warranty.

god I think your going to have to sell the car, I hear those latches are expensive

Latch is cheap, order it and then u transfer the lock cylinder from the old to the new one. Easy. Happened on mine but under warranty. It seems like it was a late '07/early'08 problem mostly...bad batch

Hope yours is grey, because its less expensive than the other 3 colors..

Exact same thing here...dealer replaced it with no problem. I think they had a bad batch of plastic

My latch just broke. Ordered a new one from Gene Culley.

But how do I get the lock cylinder out of the old latch?

If you are talking about the center console,that latch is not cheap. Bought replacement from Chesrown in Ohio, they have good prices and it was almost $40.00 last year.

Definitely NOT a five dollar part. Probably not worth more than $5, but the MSRP is between $34.67 and $54.91, depending on color. Gene's prices are between $25.69 and $40.68, again depending on color.

Yep, the gray is the cheapest, then Cashmere then both the Red and Black are the highest.

OP definitely stated glove box, not center console.

Mine just broke last Friday. Early 2008. At least when the warrenty runs out, it's titanium (grey).

Real PIA. Threre is a hole at the end of the end you have to push in (real hard) with smal srcewdriver or awl. It comes out but you really ahve to fight with it

same herre.. within a couple of weeks.. fixed it myself. wasn't worth a trip to the dealer.

Happened to me twice, first time dealer fixed it under warrantee, second time spent 40 bux and replaced it myself. I thought i was the only one with this problem, cus im to yolked and dont no my own strenght.
