Why can't we do the oven trick on the C6 headlights?
For the longest time, people have been using the oven trick to open up their headlamps so they can spray the inner housing (usually black.) I did it for my Accord and it was simple as pie. For those that don't what it is, you basically put the headlamp inside an oven or use a heat gun to warm up the adhesive along the edges of the lamps. Then you simply pry the lamps open. I have never seen the C6 lamp assemblies off of the car so I have no idea how they are sealed up. For those that have seen them, why won't the oven trick work on the vette headlamps? I love the look of black headlights, but not enought to drop a few grand to achieve that look.

The C6 headlights use a Urethane bond adhesive (similar to the adhesive that is used on windshields and doesn't respond as well to softening from heat. Best results will be obtained from cutting them open with a dremel or similar cutting tool and cleaning out the old adhesive.

Once open, just clean the channels out from the old adhesive and when it is time to reseal them just pick up a Urethane adhesive and apply it liberally to the channels and clean off the excess.

What color is your car? Maybe someone would do a trade with you? I sure wouldn't do that oven thing first.
