Default (Completed pics on last page of thread) Z06 body conversion what do you think.

Ok everyone so here is the story. About a week ago at night on the freeway I drove right into a stack of white chairs or something in the fast lane. The front bumper is cracked and needs to be replaced, Also scratches are on the hood, rood, windshield, left side mirror, left headlamp and left side panel. So I decided to look into doing a C6 Z06 body panel conversion to try and save money while the repairs have to be made. The insurance is paying roughly $4200 in damages at this time. When I spoke to the repair shop about doing a Z06 conversion I was quoted by the shop about $5500 out of pocket plus the $500 deductible so the total would be $6000 which also includes high quality painting of the panels and high quality painting of the whole car they make their own panels so those will not be GM parts. Obviously this depends on how much you would like to do the conversion but I'm curious of what you guys think of this deal/offer and if you think it's worth it. I'm also aware that I'm going to have to get rims and tires and possibly look for a deal on those.

Also forgot to mention that I have to replace the skid bar which isn't covered by the insurance which is over $400 to replace so that total includes that as well.

I don't have a problem with a wide body conversion (it does look great), But I would not badge it as something it is not.

That smacks of poseur.

Do it and never look back. You will be no " poseur" as spoke of in previous post and and you will love the new look. All Corvettes shouldl have wide booties and fat tires.

The poseur comment was only directed at badging claiming what it wasn't, not the conversion, which I like.

The big expense in doing a front end wide-body upgrade is OEM CF fenders for the Z06 or ZR1.

You might want o consider aftermarket fenders from SS-Vette. Much cheaper with an excellent fit and finish.

I'm actually considering putting a custom badge on there when it's all done

A base vette with a body kit. As a ZO6 owner I’m partial to the look obviously, ZR1’s as well. Your car your money at the end of the day so obviously spend your money how ever the hell you want and anyone with an issue can f$&! off basically. I’ll part with this.....when I see other vettes C6’s specifically my first thought is....”wonder if it’s fast” base/GS/ZO6/ZR1 doesn’t matter necessarily if it’s fast. Just my opinion and what I find most important I’m sure other have completely different “judging criteria” and that’s cool too.

Their products look nice. Would the 1.5" fenders/quarters look like an OE ZR1/Z06?

I agree they all should. Is that a good price? $5500. I've heard of this costing 10K in other posts.

Yes performance is always first for me over doing anything to the body. That's why I went ahead an installed a procharger with headers before even considering doing any type of body work.

Get in touch with Crazy Cowboy and get his front panel replacements with the C7 headlight upgrade in styling. Less money, looks great, don’t need new wheels and tires. Just don’t put those Manta Ray insignia on it or you’ll catch hell from forum members.

Do you just get wider rims to fill out the space of the wide body panels? Does that affect the wheel offset and performance? Just asking.

Hell yeah! ProCharger!! Now your speaking my language! That opens up a lot of possibilities on the badge.....you can even get “cute” with it....ZO6 badge and “killer” where the 505HP is?? 😂 I feel like unless you live in Texas you should be able to get away with that and not run up on a bunch of blown ZO6’s. Heads cam ZO6 guys will take it pretty hard if your base walks away from them....
