Wasn't that time achieve only with the PDK (automated manual)? As tested, off the top of my head, it cost like $70k+...we are talking Z06 prices here.

Lotus is tiny.
Boxter is cool
C6 is a Corvette.
Nuff said. J/K
Whatever makes you happy is what you should get, but I think the Corvette is the winner out of these cars IMO.

The Lotus seems like a fun little momentum racer but the guys I knew who seriously tracked their's had all sorts of mechanical problems with them. I think the Boxter is a clean, decent enough street car. Neither, however, is any match for even a halfway decently prepared Vette on the track.

Okay, I know everyone on this forum is a Vette fan, including me, after all I too made a big commitment when I bought
my 06 3lt z51 vert in Jan. '08 and my Vette is truly an awesome car.
I was looking at a number of sports cars at that time but had always wanted a Vette. I now find myself second guessing my decission and am considering selling my Vette after doing a moderate number of "Show" mods, in favor of the Lotus Elise SC.
Opinions welcomed.....

For everyday use and as a weekend warrior... you just can't beat the vette for its comfort and performance... and that V8... how could you think of giving up that V8 with it's instant low end torque and those wonderful sounds...

In the Car & Driver test (that everyone here has their panties in a bunch over) the Boxter S tied the Vette 0-60.......don't recall the exact time, but 4.1 sounds about right if memory serves.

There is a guy here at work who drives a new Lotus, he parks it right out from my office window. It doesn't look like much fun getting in or out of that teeny car.

I like the looks of the boxster's front end but it still comes off as dainty and feminine to me. I would never buy one but that doesn't mean I wouldn't have any problem driving one around for a week.

Excerpt from the article.....
We simply cannot resist the Boxster S, hurtful prices and all, because it’s a benchmark for responsive handling. The chassis reacts so directly to steering inputs that it makes its competitors seem plodding. Give the wheel a twitch, and the Porsche will move a 10th of an inch closer to the apex. Best-in-test braking (155 feet from 70 mph) and skidpad grip (0.94 g) back up subjective impressions.
The engine is equally responsive, revving freely up to the 7400-rpm redline. With the help of launch control and shorter gearing in the first few ratios (compared with the previous six-speed manual), the Boxster S clobbers 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, equaling the Corvette’s run

The Boxster is a pretty good car, fast and handles well-tho I prefer the Cayman. The Lotus is great and does make a good dd for a single guy who doesn't weight over 185lbs-which leaves out the majority of Vette owners I've seen. It has an excellent power to weight and compares favorably to the Corvette at VIR. The downside to the Lotus is, of course, repairs. Of the three, the Boxster will keep its' value, but my bet is the Lotus will be the collector car to put away if you are young.
