Looks good but I really do not like the badge at all.

What exactly is the upper limit then for the aluminum frame? Seems strange that it can handle all that folks do to their convertible C6's but, not handle 500 hp?
BTW, a friend has a 660 hp supercharged C6 convertible and it seems to be holding up just fine......

So the aluminum frame could support 300+ hp in C5's and 430/436 in C6's but, it will fall apart with 500 hp????

Lambo and Ferrari use aluminum frames for their verts.
It can be done, GM just doesn't do it. There are alot of additional cost and development to make the Z06 a vert. The car would certainly weigh more due to the reinforcement and electronics involved, which would defeat the purpose of the Z06.
None the less, GM should offer it. All of the other top of the line, exotic sports cars do it. If you want a light weight coupe, then buy it. A lot of people would love to have a Z06 vert.
That's why the Grand Sport was made.

For any one interested I have an 8 page powerpoint that GM sent to their GS CTF drivers, along with the dealer order forms if you want specific details PM me and answer what I can, or send me an email and ill forward the info. FYI GM is saying 4.0 sec 0-60, a 1.0G on the skid pad, and 26 MPG highway.

Makes me wish I had not got my 09. Love the wheels and the wide body look and lets face it the car has more horse power then we can ever use on the street. Just looks sweet

I don't mean to say this in a sarcastic way, but I'm not sure where most of you live.
Some of you might see a Corvette once in a while. I see them dozens of times each day in Florida.
Most people that drive them aren't hard core enthusiasts. I know what the Grand Sport includes. I don't care if it has a steel frame, LS3 engine, or what ever. It looks like a Z06 and that is most people care about.
If you are involved in a hard core or knowledgeable group of people that know enough to pick apart the Grand Sport, you are in the minority. Plain and simple.
Most people don't give a rats a$$ about a aluminum frame. Most people never track their cars. Most people can't tell the difference between a Corvette and Ferrari, let alone an aluminum frame vs steel frame, etc. All they want to know is if they car drives fast and is it easy to drive.
Sure, the Grand Sport is not a Z, but do most people care about that? I can buy a GS and mod it for much cheaper than a Z and make it handle just as good if not better, go faster, and brake better for cheaper, with the Z06 looks and the top off.
In case you haven't realized, GM doesn't care about the small majority of hard core enthusiasts - You don't make GM money. They care about selling cars. It's better for them to appeal to the masses.
The Z is a world class sports car regardless of price, but I see 10x more Merc SLs and 911s even though they are more expensive. Why? Because they have more options. Automatics, verts, etc. No one if Palm Beach Gardens, FL wants to drive a manual, hard top only coupe. I might see one Z out of every 100 high end sports cars. Not because it's not good enough, but because it doesn't appeal to the masses.
Tell me I'm wrong and prove it.
