guys, here's the bottom line.

1. it was legal
2. those who participated could afford to do so

post whatever you want, but all of your preaching and judging are not very damn likely to keep it from happening again next year.

yeah, and we know that used car salesmen only screw over people who buy Vettes.... their contracts are all written that they have to divulge the leaking batteries on Prius's and the plastic transmissions on 300ZXs and the engine problems on Ford Probes/Mazda Miatas...

Good stuff...thanks for sharing!

This was done in a controlled enviroment, with fire department and medical personnel nearby. Not illegally on some side street. So I think calling someone stupid is a tad un-called for. (Fair game for the guys doing it illegally on the side streets )

At the end of the day it's just a car.... A really great american built performance car, but just a car.

...well put!

I was there.....this was a controlled enviornment, police and fire department were on hand. Spectators were well out of the way of any danger. The participants in this event had changed out their tires just for this event. Honestly some members of this forum needs an enema...some of the posters in this thread are driving the wrong vehicle if they find fault in this contest. Sometimes this place is so uptight, it reminds me of those old guys in caddyshack. Get a grip people, you only go around this life once.

hahaha.. Did you guys expected any less from this site?

I wasn't going to do it, but I'm not going to criticize others for doing it, especially in a controlled environment.

Well, several negative comments here, but hey I did this tonight with my vette, its always good to squeal the tires a bit, hey we bought these cars to be driven, not to be garage queens that we don't punch. Let's have fun with these cars, that's what they were built for, if you don't believe me my dads big block vette has over 300,000 miles!

i didnt do it either but is sure as heck was fun to watch. And lets not forget is was for a good cause. People have to remember, we are Americans, this is the premier American sports car for the last 50+ years. We are the same people who ended WWII and put a man on the moon. Lets not be scared to burn a little rubber once in a while. If they are scared stay home and go buy a Prius.

After three combat tours I'm enjoying the hell out of my 663/585rw. Not that I have the disposible $$$ but, what's the point of not enjoying your vette the way you choose. My PS2's aren't cheap but, it's my choice. Some of you need to see your doctor and have your tailpipe cleaned out.

well - I'm neutral on the topic, fun to watch, but unless I won the lottery I wouldn't be doing any of that stuff in my Z06. at 1000 dollars for two rear tires.... no thanks.

What really kinda made me go "wtf" was the red Z06 in video 4, where he pretty much did 25% of a donut and continued to burnout, pointing his rear's at the safety crew and his front into what would seem to be an audience. If one of his tires failed bye bye safety crew. He should have stopped, lined back up and continued.

Some of you guys may not know this, but the engine on your Corvette doesn't explode if the tach needle goes over 2K.

Disagree! I have plenty of fun in my vette from slow riding, cornering, spirited runs, etc., and the car will never experience the abuse these guys are doing to their cars by bouncing it off the rev limiter for 5 or so minutes straight. Not saying the car can't handel it, but I am not going to find out It's funny, every once and a while I hear someone ask how high their oil/coolant temps get. If you want to set the high temp records try doing burn outs at 7100 rpms for minutes straight on a 100 degree day with no air flow, that will get you there! I am sure oil temps approaching 325 and coolant temps approaching 275 are just terrific for the car

Not everybody buys a Z06 to dog the $hit out of it!

ABSOLUTELY - this was far from a "controlled environment". I don't think it takes too much imagination to see some idiot losing it and launching their car into the crowd or another car.

Of course it was a "controlled environment"....just ask the guys using their "skilled technique" in the videos!!!!...they'll confirm it!
