Default tire and wheel question

I replaced my front tires earlier on my C6 and now need to replace my rear tires. I want to go wider on the rear tires and wheels without replacing the front tires and wheels (at least for now). The fronts are 245s. Question 1: Can I safely go up to 325s on the rear without upsizing the front tires, and if not what would be the widest? Question 2: What is the largest tire I can safely put on the front stock wheels for later? Thanks.

Your front to rear ratio will be fine, but if you are running stock rims on the rear, the widest you can go is a 305, unless you are tracking your car, then 295 would be a better choice, because with a 305 you may have a little sidewall stretch. The better choice is to go with a wider rim on the rear, 19X11 with an offset of +79. Then you can easily run a 305, 315 or 325 for maximum width.

I am buying some 19X11s for the back but the tire place told me that I should not go wider than 305s on this size of wheel. Shouldn't this size of wheel take up to 325s? Also, will 325s stick outside of the fenders on a stock c6?

For anyone interested in more on this question, there's a good thread here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-z...cw-wheels.html

whats the aspect ratio of the tire...that plays a key role? 30, 35?

the design rim width for a 305/30r19 is 11 inches. its 11.50" for a 325/30...which makes it still within "ok" zone, the tire manuf.'s allow for a +- .5" tolerance on rim widths.....
