Default Any tips on removing tar from body?

Hey, I have some tar just behind my two front wheels. I bought the vette used and thought it was just road marks from debris thrown up from wheels but upon closer inspection it appears to be tar. Tried bug and tar remover but that isn't working too well. I could not find anything on the search. Thanks in advance.

WD-40 works perfect and will not hurt paint.

But I think you might have not given the Tar and Bug remover enough time to work...let it sit on the tar for a bit (and try it a couple of times) to loosen it up...it should work.

Let it work for a few minutes and rinse/wash repeatedly when clean with water and old rag .

I use a small dab of Gojo Hand Cleaner to get those bits of road tar. Put it on and let it sit a minute or two to soften and loosen the tar. Wipe off with a soft towel. If the glob of tar is large it may take a couple of applications. Finish by wiping it clean with a wet rag.

Even gasoline will work. Just be careful as you are removing it that you don't rub it very hard. That tar probably contains sand and you don't want to be sanding the paint.

Once you get it clean a coat of Rejex will make sure you never have this problem again. With Rejex tar just comes off during regular washing.

big red label with white cap spray can of 3M General Purpose Adhesive Remover, as recommended by detailer and clear bra installer. spray on very small patch of a rag about a quarter's size, then wipe off tar. can will last forever; mine's going on 4 years old.

The can may last forever (although I doubt it), but the contents will not.
A lot of chemicals go bad with time.

Honda motorcycle cleaner in a spray can, dissolves bugs and tar and is good for the paint.

Thank you, and yes, I do understand that fact. (3M's a wonderful company that has a tech staff answering just such questions when I ask them.)

Nope, I use Gojo with lanolin. It is creamy soft. But it is wise to check any hand cleaner before putting it on a surface that could be scratched.
