Buffeting Clips
They sell some clips that hold the hatch lid up a few inches to achieve this. One vendor has one for a convertible that cost $54.95. Another for a coup for $47.95. They look the same to me!
I guess I’m too cheap to spend this kind of cash to try something I may not like. So today I headed down to my local Home Depot to pick up some stuff and continue my search for that perfect axle for my Valve Cover Racer wheels. I picked up some 1/8 inch bar stock to make my own clip. They just look like a piece of bar stock with either rubber coating or black paint that is bent and twisted to fit the pull down device on one end and the “D” ring end of the hatch on a C6 coupe. I figured I could bend my own.
I found the perfect clip to achieve the same effect at a whopping cost of $2.69 plus tax.

Made by Lehigh the SKU is #7000 on the package. It is shown as number 071514050003 on my receipt and is called a Swivel Snap. I opened the package and quickly snapped it into the open pull down, then grabbed the hatch pulled it down and connected the latch part of the snap to the “D” part of the hatch. I believe this snap is 3 ½ inches long. I’m 6’2” and 290lbs so my hands are not small; I had no problem connecting this clip! Here is a picture of what this looks like installed on my car. I headed home, the long way, up I-90 to test it at speed. From Issaquah to Preston there is a nice stretch were you can legally hit 70 mph and I’m pleased with the results.

This is subjective by my SOTP testing I believe the wind buffeting was reduced significantly, not eliminated but highly reduced. Oh, no rattles or other noises noticed either, guess time will tell but for $2.69 you can’t go wrong. Plus I just clipped it to my storage net for safe keeping when not in use.
