Cadillac CTS-V versus Corvette Coupe?
Just wondering how these cars stack up? the CTS-V has a lot more horsepower, but will the vette still beat it in a straight line and on the track in handling?
how about the Z06 vette versus the CTS-V ?

I have a very close friend that recently bought a CTS-V M6 with Recaro seats and after spending a great deal of time behind the wheel I don't believe it would be much of "a drivers race".
We haven't lined them up next to each other to run em off but I don't think it would be much of a race.
My 08' C6 is an A6 w/Kooks, K&N, Z51 and a tune and I believe the CTS-V would be significantly faster based on SOTP.
I like the steering in the CTS-V much better than my C6 and the CTS-V makes huge power.
I love the CTS-V and if they had been making this car when I bought my 08 I would be driving it instead.
I can't speak to the Z06 because I have never driven one.
However it does have a few drawbacks
Gas mileage-
No Spare-
No Runflats-

Chevy announced the Z28 Camaro will get the Caddy engine next year. That should make things interesting. The CTS-V does around 12.7 in the 1/4.
MILFORD, MICHIGAN -- Official Society of Automotive Engineers numbers for the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V are 556 hp and 551 lb-ft of torque. Its 6.2L supercharged OHV V-8 propelled it around a lap of the Nordshleife in seven min, 59.32 sec recently, and Cadillac says it will launch it from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 sec. Quarter-mile? About 12 sec at 118 mph. Cadillac says some runs have beat 12 sec; others are slightly over.

According to Edmunds, The CTS-V weighs 4222 lbs, and the C6 weighs 3217 lbs...a difference of 1005 lbs. As EVERYONE OF US has mentioned at one time or another, weight has a factor in the outcome. Dont even try to deny it people!
Obviously the CTS-V is supercharged putting out over 500rwhp to help make up for its' weight. The C6 is naturally aspirated with much less weight to make it equally dangerously fast.
I have never driven a CTS-V before, so I'm really not qualified to answer this, but I "think" the CTS-V may just have the edge (all things being equal).
IMHO, it's also comparing apples to oranges too. Two different creatures with two different purposes. The only thing that links the two is their brute power, which is where it ends.
I truly love my C6, and I truly love the CTS-V. If I had the coin, the CTS-V would be my C6s' stable mate hands down.
If you're posting this thread and second-quessing yourself....dont! Be happy with your C6. It turns heads like a ****! If you're posting this thread because you've been challenged....take it to the track and find out! If you lose, oh well...you atleast lost to another GM product No shame in that!

The CTS-V acheived the same time(7:58) around the famed 'ring as the LS2 Z51 C6......an LS3 car would have a small advantage, but it would indeed be a drivers race.
I think it's a feather in Cadillacs cap that they've made a sedan where these kinds of questions even come up.

For a secondary FUN car your best performance for the money would be an 08 vette hands down. I think of the cts-v as more of a daily driver. Performance is very close to the vette, giving a slight edge to the vette on a road corse. The caddy cost a lot more than a used vette as well.

The new CTS-V is bad azz! Great power and luxury.... big improvement over the LS6/LS2 version. I don't know how it feels compared to a stock C6 since I don't remember the last time I was in one of those...lol.
You can't go wrong with either one....both mod friendly.

The C6 models came out in 05, so you couldn't purchase an 05 C5
The Z06 came out in 06. Just a FYI

My '09 Vette seems faster, but I suspect my V is faster & quicker. One should reflect on what engine is in the '09 V.
The real surprise is how well the V handles. IMO, it handles better than my Vette.
Best regards,
Jeffrey
