Shop did burnouts in my C6 - big deal?
I took the car to a Colony Tire & when I went to talk to the mechanic, noticed that the rear tires were clearly marked by lines & grooves indicative of burnouts.
I pointed it out & was told the vehicle slipped on the metal lift ramp due to the drizzle.
Seems like a load of BS; should I complain or let it go & never return.
The car should be ready later this afternoon.

I would rub my hand inside the wheel well. See if rubber is melted off up there. If so, I would be very angry.
I would be mad either way, and not go back.
I am not sure what you would get by going to the shop owner. Maybe a free oil change. But would you trust your car there again?

I didn't check the fenders for rubber, but will when I return.
I never do burnouts (intentionally anyways), so I was pretty surprised when I saw the tires. The mechanic was very nice (admitted they had tried to sell me new rotors even though mine could be turned)...
I think I will have a chat with the manager when I go to pick her up.

so... you dropped the car off to get new tires (presumably) and they may have done a burnout with them? Or, even before the new tires... Sounds like you need to have a conversation with the shop superviser displaying your displeasure.
If they really did do a burnout with the new tires, it would seem to me that they owe you new set! That's what I would persue. However, if it is a burnout with the old tires, you're probably not gonna get much out of it. I would be pissed too.
Of course, there is the BBB if things don't go your way...
not that anyone could do a burnout in my car...

I went in for a rear-brake inspection. Was getting a scraping/squealing sound with 40k miles on the OD. First they told me I needed new rotors because they were warped. Then they said they weren't warped, but scored too deeply to turn. I stopped in for a visual to see for myself as I wasn't buying it. That's is when I noticed the tires, and the mechanic told me they have to push items to sell, but in reality, I would be fine with just turning the rotors & new pads.

Where were you during the presumed burnout ? Did you leave the car w/ them and not stay around to guard it .
I would have stayed right there, keeping a close eye on it.

thats not a good business practice what so ever. Even if the car slipped, it shouldnt leave new grooves in the tire, that takes a little more than a quick chirp of the tires. At the very least I would bitch until I got the service, and tires free. If not threaten to call the local news, and I bet they will fix thier mess up. quick.

I dropped my car off a chevy once for some "service". I took a picture of the odometer before I left and when I returned it had been on a 60 mi "test" drive. I lost my freaking mind in there. You as a buisness owner or somebody working for a customer DO NOT take advantage of your customers like that. Tell them what you want (oil change, new tires whatever) and if they arent willing to make it right tell the BBB and the word of mouth theyre going to get wont be worth screwing you over. Then never go there again and NEVER leave your vette at a shop EVER again.
