HOW-TO: Remove center console??
Can anyone point me in the right direction (or tell me exactly how) on removing the center console bezel that runs up the dash?
Mine has become scratched, and I'm going to try and paint it. OR if anyone has a better idea, I'll be glad to listen.
I don't mind removing it, but I sure don't want to "break" anything on my baby.
Thanks

Not sure I understand what you mean by "come off first". Do they actually get removed from the interface connection? From what i have gathered on disconnecting them, it appears that they should be depressed or squeezed to disengage the detent. All pictures I have seen show the blue part still attached after they have been disconnected.

GM has been using these "blue clips" for a while. They are on my '03 TrailBlazer harness for my HVAC Control unit (ask me how I know...). AAR, pull the blue clip first then disconnect the harness.

Don't be surprised if you blow the cig lighter fuse (I guess the new term is power accessory). I did the first time I took the center console out.
If you do, it's a 20 amp fuse and fairly easy to replace.

Just be real patient and careful. As mentioned above, the plug connectors are goofy. Also, (may not be a big deal since you are thinking of painting) use some masking tape around edges to prevent more scratches. Watch the ash tray door, as it can get scratched pretty easy.
Good luck....

Agree and you'll also find that to help release those hard to get at 12V plug connectors ~ a small pick is very handy. It just takes some finesse and a little pulling on the center-stack clips, but she'll come out fairly easily.

The only connector I had issues with (I broke it) was on the traction control switch/button. Ended up getting a new switch which was less than $30. It was a pain in the *** to disconnect. Everything else went great. Disconnect your battery, take your time and you will be ok.
