For those who change their own oil
I notice thst quite a few CF members do their own oil and filter changes. Most talk about jacking up the front of the car to access the drain plug and filter but how many jack up the rear of their car to finish the job. If you have a Z51, Z06 or ZR1, the rear toe links also require lubrication. Have you been greasing yours?
For those who have the dealer do their oil & filter changes, have you ever checked to see if the tech is lubing the rear toe links?

I have never lubed my toe.... I have a 4 post so I cheat when changing the oil...its way too easy...
What is this toe thing about? 1st I have heard of it, and I would bet the dealer has no clue either.

There are nipples on the rear toes links that should be filled with grease. Check the tech section and there are explanations on how to do it. You will need a grease gun with a flexible hose (so that you don't have to remove the wheels) and a grease tube.

At the rear of the car, there is a toe link that runs from the center section out to the rear wheel next to the axle. At the end is the tie rod end that has a zerk fitting on the bottom. Use a NLG1 #2 chassis grease.

Do you guys have any pictures of where this is? I would like to lube it when I do my first oil change soon.

I often jack both ends to change the oil but not always.
Jacking both ends makes the oil change easier but is a bit more work so it just depends upon what else I need/want to do and how much time I have.

I usually jack both ends because my oil change is done at the start of winter when it is put away for the year..I lube my toe link at the start of the summer..

It has been reported here many times that not all Z51 equiped cars were supplied with the greaseable toe links. Many were built with no grease fitting installed or any way of installing one short of replacing the link.

I use Race Ramps and don't jack up the rear. I did it once and hardly anything came out. There is more residual oil left in the engine than you'll scavenge by jacking up the rear.

According to GM, all Z51, Z06 and ZR1's require greasing. I guess that it's possible that some Z51's might not have the zerk fittings. I haven't seen anything on the new Grand Sports, but I suspect they will have the zerk fittings. Anyway, it only takes a couple of minutes for anyone to check their car for the presence of zerk fittings and to see if they have been lubed.

Retired & lovin' it!
I suspect those are not true Z51's, but perhaps cars that have had drilled rotors installed & the owners assume they have the Z51 option. All Z51's do have the rear link fittings that require couple of pumps of lube every 10K miles.....read the Owner's Manual. I've found the easiest way to do both an oil change & lube is to roll the front wheels up on ramps....then jack the rear....place jack stands at the rear & you're all set.

There is also what I will call the lower ball joint on the rear spindle and some Z51's have a grease fitting there and some do not. My 08 Z51 coupe was built in October of 2007 and it does not have a grease fitting in this location.
No need to be a wise butt and tell me to read the owners manual. Do a little research and learn the facts before you post.
