Anyone verify that?
Ferrari uses magnets in their F1 engines for particles, that's enough for me

There's a vendor on here that sells a package, Oil-Trans-Diff magnet tipped plugs, can't remember who though.

I got the Magdana plug, it works great.

My 2008 did NOT come with one.

I have a 2009 base C6 (430hp ls3) and GM part number 24241872 does NOT fit. Part 24241872 is a different size and has different threads than the non-magnetic plug that came on the car. If anyone has a part number that works please post. Thanks.

Default Another option

This is what I went with. Look close at the half shell oil filter.

Went with the HP300.

We have these on both vettes. We put them on before we pulled off the dealer lot. I was shocked at what got past my Amsoil Filter.

Default It is simple!

With a magnetic plug you will find small "whiskers" type metal debris on the magnet the first few oil changes and then they are pretty well caught up. I think that should answser your question.

I think it's a good idea to have a magnetic drain plug. Anything that the magnet catches is that much less that either the filter needs to handle or, worse yet, just circulates with the oil over and over. My '07 has one, I'm surprised they stopped putting them in.....maybe it was a weight saving thing

My 2007 base C6 (400hp) came standard with one. My 2009 base C6 (430hp) did NOT.

Your digging up an 8 year old thread on your very first post.

My bet is that you either own, or work for "GWR Specialty Automotive Parts" located Florida ... Am I right?

Trying to drum-up a little business?

I was using 1 of those back in the 1960's and i used to change oil every 1500 miles or so not because it was needed but did it because it was so damned cheap . My dad owned a shop so tools and a lift were free all i paid was for the filter and oil at bulk prices. Never found much stuck to it but there was a residue. I used to run the timing 14 degrees advanced on the crank so i did burn some exhaust valves in teh 120,000 miles i had that car
