Default Interior Lights Stay On Over 15 Minutes

I have a 2008 Z06. When I park the car in my garage and walk into the house (with the Key FOB) I find that the car takes more than 15 minutes for the interior lights to shut off. Any suggestions on how to change settings so that the interior lights shut off within 30 seconds of exiting? Thanks for replies and to all Forum Members, Have a Terrific Thanksgiving Holiday!

I use the "auto lock" feature... I close the doors and within minutes horn beeps and the doors lock... When I walk ten to fifteen feet away from the car the lights dim then go off... The will stay on longer if I "linger" near the car... Is that whats happening with you? Are you near the car after you close the doors?

Default Interior Lights Stay On Over 15 Minutes

I don't believe I have the car set for Auto Lock. My issue is when I park my Vette in the garage, I bring my Key FOB with me into my home and I am at least 30 feet away from the garage. When I come back into the garage (without the FOB) I look at the vette interior and even after 15 minutes, the interior lights are still on. Any suggestions on programming the car interior lights to shut off with 30 seconds or less? I do not wish to have the car lock itself automatically when I exit the car. I just would like the interior lights to shut off when I exit the car.

At some point, you have pressed the dash dimmer switch, which is also used to turn all interior lights on or off. Following the above procedure will fix that problem, until you do it again sometime.

BTW, we estimate that 95% to 98% of Vette owners do this sometime or another.

You don't need to program the car to autolock. Just hit the dash dimmer switch and leave out the autolocking part.

This is also in the manuel.

Entering the Personal Options Menu

To enter the personal options menu, use the
following steps:
1. If you have an automatic transmission vehicle, turn
the vehicle on with the shift lever in PARK (P).
If you have a manual transmission vehicle, turn the
vehicle on with the parking brake set.
2. Press the OPTION button and you will enter the
PERSONAL OPTIONS menu.
The DIC will display the current driver
number (1 or 2) for a few seconds and then will
display instructions on which buttons to use
for setting the personalizations. The RESET button
is used to select a setting for a particular feature.
The OPTION button is used to move to the
next feature.
3. Press the OPTION button while the instruction
screen is displayed to enter the first personalization
menu item.
4. Once you have cycled through all of the personal
options, pressing the OPTION button a final time
exits the personal options menu. In addition, if
no button is pressed within 45 seconds, the DIC will
exit the personal options menu.

I think you'll find this works for the interior lights as well.

Twilight Delay: This option allows you to set the
amount of time you want the parking lamps and front
fog lamps to remain on after you exit the vehicle.
This will occur when the vehicle is off or in RAP and the
headlamps are on due to the automatic headlamp
system. The parking lamps and front fog lamps will
remain on until the driver selected time expires,
the exterior lamp control is activated or the vehicle is no
longer off or in RAP.
Press the OPTION button until TWILIGHT DELAY
appears on the display, then press the RESET button to
scroll through the following modes:
• OFF
• 15 S
• 30 S (default)
• 90 S
If you choose OFF, this option will turn off.
If you choose 15 S, the twilight delay time will be set to
15 seconds.
If you choose 30 S, the twilight delay time will be set to
30 seconds.
If you choose 90 S, the twilight delay time will be set to
90 seconds.
When the mode you want is selected, press the
OPTION button to set your choice and advance to the
next personal option.

Sorry, that has nothing to do with the subject of this thread.

This thread is about the interior lights staying on. What you've posted is about getting the exterior lights to stay on.

EDIT: It does not affect the interior lights.

As mentioned, the dimmer switch has probably been accidently pushed. Simply push it again and see if the lights go out.

All of you are wrong.
His car is obviously suffering from separation anxiety. It's keeping the lights on for so long because it's looking for the driver.
Solution is put a photo of you in your car to keep it happy.

Since this thread is from 2009, it's probably resolved But my car came back from the detailer with the dimmer switch pushed too. Took me a couple minutes to figure it out.
