A friend and i was changing the postive battery cable, he told me to pull up to the light before he fully disconnected the cable, so i dropped the hood and didn't relize he had already disconnected it. how do i get in to my car to pop the hood? foolishly he left the key on the arm rest, and my fob won't do the trick because no power. i need help on what to do and fast.
it's in the car,why not? also he has the fob but not the key(or did i miss something)
I've seen write ups here where people are able to lock their fobs in their Vettes...I've never done that myself cause I ALWAYS have a fob and key in my pocket or wallet.
I've seen a tool in catalogs that allows you to reach under the hood and manually pull the latch. It is intended for broken release cables. I don't know if they make one for the C6 though.
Forgive me if I haven't stepped in this particular line of thought before with Vettes, but shouldn't any competent locksmith be able to grant you access any number of ways for a lot less than the price of repairs should anything so far suggested go wrong?
Also, invest in a stout, full-spin chassis rotisserie and several very strong friends. You could then extract the keys like shaking coins out of a piggy bank, and the video would amuse your friends for generations.
Have the dealership make you a replacement key from your VIN #
Usually you will need proof of ownership and photo ID. This is a security measure so that not just anyone can go to the dealership and get a key made with just VIN#.
