I looked into doing real Carbon, even priced it at the dealership. Too costly, around $1200.00 per piece. $3600.00 is a lot of money.
So I contacted RPI and bought their ZR1 package. It includes GM's own (real) ZR1 rear spoiler, and RPI's version of the front splitter and side skirts made to the EXACT GM specs.
Thought about getting them in black, but finally decided on getting them shot in the body color, and I'm really glad I did.
They have turned out to be really tough, I've lowered my Vette, and have hit the front splitter during very aggressive cornering encountering a dip on the middle of the turn, no problems to date.
One the very first day I drove the car after installing the kit, I hit a tire in the middle of the lane, (there was no way out of hitting it) the front splitter has very small stress cracks in it, but I thought it would totalled, seeing as I hit it at 70MPH.
The kit ran around $1800.00 from what I remember, it's been over a year since I bought it.
One last note: the ZR1 front splitter braces need to be installed as well, if you plan on taking the car over 120MPH. They are only $5.00 a piece and install relatively easily.
I took the car to a show and received too many compliments to count on the kit.
