LS3 Ticking Noise?
Guys, is this a normal ticking noise for the LS3, It seems pretty loud and unusual. I took this with my iphone so sorry about the quality.
Posted in tech too.
Everything seems in line, temps and pressure is fine. Is this the injectors?

Hard to tell With the phone and computer audio.....but the injectors on mine were so loud when it finally broke in (not as loud the first couple thousand miles) that I took it in because I thought something was wrong with it.

I took mine to the shop for this exact noise. Mechanic said it was the injectors and completely normal according to GM service bulletin. I have driven mine 6500 miles with this noise and it hasn't caused me any problems.

I just turned 8800 on the clock and noticed my 2007 doing it. Sounds like lifter or injector noise. Was wondering about it myself, as I hadn't noticed it before. No doubt they LS2 and LS3 are the same in that regard

I though it was just my Vette
Unfortunately I cant play your video but I guess it may be the same engine ticking.
The sound is not that loud in my Vette. Hopefully it would go away after the 2k miles.
A couple of months ago I decided to enjoy the sound of my new Vette, the dual exhaust, the 6.2 L engine. I turned off the A/C and Stereo and I heard that ticking. I was like WTF! It remineded me a little the reason why I got rid of my Camaro (bad lifters).
Anyway, I guess if you want to enjoy the noise of your engine you would have to pay another 100k for a Ferrari. Not worth it.

LS series engines make a lot of mechanical noise compared to LT1's and whatnot. As long as the noise is uniform, it's ok. When only 1 or 2 cylinders are the source, then you have worries maybe.

This is normal....the all aluminum engines resonance is somewhat different than steel engine....new gen LS engines have a noisey valve train....I've gotten use to it...had a LS3 first and now LS7....heard it from the LS3 and now it's same thing in 427....I'm used to it...

I took mine in not too long ago, over the ticking, they said it was normal. When the passenger window is down, and I'm driving next to a curb, or wall, the ticking echoing off the curb/wall back through the passenger window is loud. I still have three years on the powertrain, so I suppose I shouldn't worry too much about it.

Have a little over 7000 on my 09 and also just heard the ticking for the first time.
Never heard it before with the road noise and exhaust.
But a long stretch of highway was just paved and the tires were dead quiet with the new smooth tar
Just happen to have the radio off and NPP closed and could hear the ticking.
Didn't think anything was wrong since it was humming along so nice, but did wonder what it was.

Buy a high quality complete engine cleaner fuel additive. I used Prestone in one tank of gas and the tick is GONE! Its a clogged injector causing the noise.

fuel additive?????
Sorry but it's hard to believe that you fixed it with a bottle of prestone. There are at least two threads about this noise and it's the first time I've heard about this way to fix it.
BTW I only use top tier gas and I don't like the idea of using additives, I use them in my beater only. Maybe yours was louder and the first owner didn't use the right gas? I think a clogged injector would have other major implications than just a ticking noise which is very hard to hear.
Anybody else think that we have a clogged injector???? That would be concerning.

I have 40K on my 2007. Ticking noise has gotten worse over the last 10,000 miles. Sounds like diesel injector noise. Only when cold, under load. Goes away when warmed up. Very noticeable when starting up cold. Used to do it only when below 30 degrees, but now does it all the time until the engine gets warmed up. Is the noise from the injectors? Does GM say this is normal? This is not valve train noise.

I have 2007 Z06 with 62,000 miles and it makes the same noise and I seen this on another forum. Any info and input greatly appreciated thanks guys.
COMP CAMS has a kit. "#13702-KIT Rocker Arm Trunion Upgrade Installation Kit" that replaces the needle bearings in each rocker arm. Limiting the side to side motion thus eliminating the ticking sound we hear. It is cheap and can be installed at home. Chevrolet says it is normal. Since when? I had it start at 5000 miles. They ignored me. Then they replaced the pushrods. Nothing happened! then I replaced the needle bearings in my garage. Noise gone!

Clearly the fuel injectors, not the valve train. I put a mechanics stethoscope on them and you can hear them hammering, some worse than others. Also checked with Chev dealer...same problem in Cadillacs. No known cure, not to worry, no damage being done.
