Default Glove box latch

I broke off the latch with the lock cylinder still in tact. Any ideas as to how to remove the cylinder so my key will still work. I have ordered the latch but it doesn't come with the lock cylinder

Default G B latch

Took delivery of my 013 on Friday, broke the next day, it's black, actually did not break but just came apart inside, that thing is a GADGET if I ever saw one. Cannot figure out how to put it back together, there's a pin, a link, & a little spring thingy nothing broken that I can see.

Default Latch broken

My latch also broke off. I ordered one from Eckler's. Once I cut the tumbler out of the old latch and put it in the new one it took about 10 mins. to get the new latch in. Saved a trip to the dealer.

Add me to the list, my 2009 convertible, the latch just broke two days ago.

Does anyone have a part number? I have the Cashmere interior.

I don't think I've opened the glove box on my 2008 vert a dozen times in over 5 years. I was shocked yesterday when I opened it and the plastic just broke. I followed the instructions on this forum to remove the key part and the plastic crumbled around it. I hope GM used different plastic on the other trim parts.

Thanks for all the help. 5 minute job once you know what to do. Has anyone made a metal replacement for the latch?

A 3D metal printer would make short work of this part. Has anyone done this? Does any one have a CAD 3D model of this part?

Mine did not break off but now the glove box doesn't open. I can pull on the lever it springs forward and back in place but does not release the box to open. I can insert the key and lock or unlock.

I can not see or grip the little metal tab since the latch is still in place.

It worked last week

Any suggestions on how to open?

As I recall I had to get on my back underneath the glove box with a light and there is a little metal tab you can push with a long skinny screw driver that will release it when it is unlocked. Sorry I don't have pictures or a better way to describe it.

You are right, but look at the visor mirror issues. There are several problems that need fixed, but apparently they don't care. After all, we keep buying parts to fix our cars, that they make money selling. Why should they upgrade?

Got mine 2 weeks ago for the best price I found after checking for the cost including delivery. The low priced places had big shipping charges and the local places won't sell retail at their online prices. I ended up with that well known auction site being the best place and the dealer was based near GM headquarters. The part number for Cashmere is 15924033. Mine was Titanium and cost less than 2 Jacksons.
