Got mine 2 weeks ago for the best price I found after checking for the cost including delivery. The low priced places had big shipping charges and the local places won't sell retail at their online prices. I ended up with that well known auction site being the best place and the dealer was based near GM headquarters. The part number for Cashmere is 15924033. Mine was Titanium and cost less than 2 Jacksons.

I had an 05 coupe for seven years without a glove box latch issue. I bought a 2013 GS (new) and had to replace the latch twice in a year. When I replaced it for the second time, I asked the service manager what the heck was going on. He told me to keep the glove box empty since the weight is what was making the latch break. I told him that the only thing I had in there was the owners manual. He said, "Keep the box empty. Put the manual in one of the compartments in the back of the car".
I hope that GM does a "fix" for this problem since it appears that it is a chronic one for the C6.

Well I replaced my latch Friday. After reading up here it was easy peasy. I removed the lock tumbler from the old one following the instructions in the video. It took about 15 seconds. I can't beleive people would hack them out with a Dremel
Stuck a smal pair of hooked needle nose pliers in the broken latch and popped the glovebox open like it was nuthin.
I love the place ! Now if GM would only make a robust latch

I broke mine this morning when I opened the glovebox. Based on where it broke it seems to me that it might last longer if you pull gently when opening the glovebox door. The hinge mechanism is very weak.
It's amazing to me that a latch such as this has been used in cars since at least the 1920s or 1930s and nearly 100 years later manufacturers are designing these parts with obvious deficiencies in design and materials.
I guess I'll stop at the GM parts department tomorrow.
Oh well, better than breaking an axle.

Bought my 2008 two weeks ago yesterday...and promptly broke the latch when I got home from picking it up. The good news is that, with the help of YouTube, I had it replaced five minutes.

Broken Latch. How do you order part from Gene?
Add my car to the list here of broken latches. My car was produced in Feb 2008 and the handle is grey in color.
This seems like a plastics "formula" issue to me; my handle is so brittle that i literally used my fingers to snap the plastic away from the lock (3-4 different breaks) to free the lock after the handle broke.
My car is under warranty, but per my luck the day i called my dealership was the last day they were still part of GM. I have had such terrible experiences at the other local dealership i decided to order the part for $25 from Gene and do it myself. Maybe that's part of GMs' plan to reduce warranty work.
The replacement was easy, took maybe 10 minutes total.
I hope the new one lasts a lot longer!

How can I order the part from Gene. Does he have an online contact point?

Best thing about it, total cost was some hot glue and a tie wrap..."

Easy glovebox latch "fix".
Just bought an '08 and the glovebox latch was half there. Bought a replacement ($60 on Amazon) and proceeded to place a layer of JB Weld behind the handle to thicken it up since it's too thin. Just be mindful not to cover the hinge or metal release mechanism. Feels quite sturdy now when opening glove box!
