Well done. I like. Did you "form up" the sides with something ? It looks nice and uniform on the sides.

Sign me up for the Cashmere break. Just happened. Once i get a new one I think I'll try the JB weld reinforcement trick; don't want to dork around with this again

Save yourself $60 and try this first. I did a couple of years ago and it's still holding up.

I joined the club today. I feel lucky to make it this far on an O7. You guessed it....cashmere interior.
What is the verdict on going with a black latch?

Thanks for all the helpful advice. I have read about this problem for years and today was my lucky day.

I don't think that you should do a black latch unless you really don't mind the color difference. The cashmere one you have went 9 years...not bad. I think it's a good idea to beef up the new one a bit though...probably a worthwhile project. I'm going to do mine. I never even got to see how mine got broken; when I bought the car at 1,700 miles the whole thing was broken off and gone. Warranty replaced. Those GM execs are tough on cars...LOL

I'm gonna try the fix posted by rick a few posts up..Mine broke just above and around the top of the key lock cylinder, so I have 2 pieces...the lever and the lock cylinder and the internal portion with just a little of the lever on it.

I plan to get an initial set with Gorilla super glue then build up the back with JB weld and finally the zip tie trick with a few dots of super glue to hold it in place.

50.00 or 60.00 bucks for this part is crazy in my world!

With the help of the repair video, I had the new latch installed within 15 minutes. I ended up going with the black latch and it looks fine with the black accents in the car. I got the part off the auction site for $40. Cashmere was going to be about $55.
I'm happy with my results.

Default '08 latch broke and door won't open

So tell me, how do you get the door to open when the latch handle is in your hand? Obviously easy to replace, but how do you get that door open.

Wow. 10 years and your first post.
Hopefully a mod will hook you up with a 10 year member badge.

Sorry I can't answer your question. Mine came open when the latch broke.
Stay tuned. Someone will help you shortly I'm sure.

How did you get the glove box door open with a broken latch? That's my dilemma.

I saw the post and the picture. My plastic handle snapped off but the mechanism is still in place. The lever you pull down 1/4" is on the inside, correct? How do I get to it?

No, it's on the outside of your glovebox. You can just feel for it, and pull down on it with the tip of your finger. It's been a few years ago, but thats exactly what i did.

Default Glove Box Latch

Black Latch is the strongest one. Colored ones are not as strong. There is a thread from late 2015 on this. About $70.00 at the Ripoff joint Easy to open when broken, not rocket science.
