Default Body side molding (C5 vs C6)

Just wondering why this option was so prevalent amongst C5'ers, but I have literally NEVER seen a C6 with the BSM.

What does the BSM do for a C5 or C6? I doesn't protect anything and ruins the lines of the car. I prefer the C5 look without the BSM. Are there others that actually like how the BSM looks?

On the C5 it doesn't look completely out of place like on a C6.

Not true. Someone :o scraped their C5 when turning into a tight one car garage. Body side modeling sacrificed itself, and was a much cheaper fix than the car. They do offer protection, probably from shopping carts and such as well.

It was a cheap option on the C5, and while it didn't look great, I ordered my car with it for protection. I don't believe it was an option on the C6 (at least it wasn't on mine), which is why we don't see them.

It was a factory option on the C5 and most dealers order their cars with every available option.

On the C6, it isn't a factory option so it would have to be put on after delivery.

I had it on my C5, and actually liked the look on that car. Glad the C6 doesn't have it though, I don't think it would wear the look as well. Hardly any cars have them anymore it seems, at least the cars that I like .

Bring back body cladding! Because, you know, cars from the 90's represent the pinnacle of modern car design.

Someone once posted that he didn't like the C5 moldings themselves, but the entire car looked better when they were installed. I felt the same way and ordered them on our 2001. Have not had any temptation to put them on our C6.

I too very much liked the BSM's on the C5. They were shaped nicely and to me, added to the lines of the car.
No so on the C6. They do make them for our cars, but they add nothing, and actually detract significantly from the car's design.

I could have sworn that the BSM is a factory option. It lists it on corvette.com.

I've NEVER seen a pic though.

I had them on my C5 and currently have them on my C6. I like the looks on both generations. To each his own!

Ok, I see now. It looks like a scar honestly. I'm guessing this is not the same part as was used on the C5?

Not even close to the C5 spear, wich started out pretty large in the front vent and then tapered much more to the rear of the car....

Default Side molding

I always liked it on the C5 and thought it added to the design.
I was shocked to see the c6 red vert and actually liked it also. I know are doors being plastic are not prone to door dings so I guess if you like the looks you are doing it for just that.

It ruined the lines of the C5.

Can you share a pic of it on your C6? I have not seen a C6 with the BSM's and I am wondering how it would look. Thanks.
