The C6 - two fuel tanks or one
Hey everyone, I am new to the corvette world but reading a lot about it...it is a great car. I recently purchased a book named C6 at the NCM over the weekend and if I remember correctly it mentioned something about two fuel tanks..each tank being connected to one another..I guess one on each side?

A friend of mine asked me this question the other day and I told him I didn't know.
Does one fuel cell drain first or do they both empty equally?

I believe the passengers side drains first, then the drivers side. There are 2 'sending units' for the fuel level. Oh, and when fueling up the driver's side fills 1st then the other tank. Whatever happened to the good old days when there was 1 tank and just AM and FM

two pumps. electric one on driver's side, jet pump on pass. side driven by fuel pressure. transfers fuel over to the driver's side. two tanks are used for balance of the car for better handling overall.

FWIW, this dual tank design started w/ the C5. The reason for it is to provide the large cargo area in the back by fitting multiple smaller tanks into available space rather than taking up cargo space w/ one big tank. Good call by Gm on this one.

Each of those form-fitting jugs holds about 9 gallons. Their volume pretty much consumes every bit of available space behind the seats and forward of the rear axles. Want more? You'd have to build a custom crash-proof bladder-lined tank under the hatch glass, bore a hole through the floor, and connect a line to one of the jugs.

Yes, the book I am reading is filled with all type of "interesting" info..but it did not give a picture...thanks so much for the picture.
The book is titled Corvette C6 and by Phil Berg. Motorbooks.com or 1-800-826-6600. I purchased my copy at the NCM on Saturday.

If by "the good old days" you're talking about the cargo compartment the size of the C4's, and no trunk in the vert, you can have them .

cool. I've never even came close to filling up 18 gallons though. I think the best was around 14
