New tires orders...Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500s (non-RFT)
Well I finally pulled the trigger on the new Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500's, thier non-runflat verison of the tire.
The Goodyear shop by me will do the install for i think 141 so the total price with tires shipped will be like $920. They are new and have little review but the Run-flat Wide Ovals that were on my car when i bought it have been good to me, I just don't need the run flat anymore and this looked like this best option. I was thinking about the Hankook Ventus V12s but I kept getting mixed reviews about using them for HPDEs and serious driving.
Ill give a review once I get them since the anticipated delivery for the rears is June 5th right now, but I have seen that pushed back once already for someone else. I just need to get them before my track day in July. That will be the real test.

Yeah, I think quite a few of the forum members run the firehawks. Beyond that, I've been unable to find any expert reviews with the tires on a vette. I'm in the market for new tires as well... $920 total sounds like a good deal.
How many miles did you get out of your firehawk runflats?

My Wide Oval RFTs i had on there for about 11k miles, but that include 2 weekends of track HPDE driving. 16 x ~20-25 min sessions.
They were a good tire. I just got a call from the guy at tirerack and he said the new Indy 500's are a non-run flat but a step above the RFT Wide Ovals.
Looking forward to getting my vette into a nice new pair of shoes.

Luke-- I plan on buying new tires for my C6 within the next month or so. Its been tedious doing all the research to try and decide which tire I should go with. Any recommendations on a non-runflat, strictly summer tire for ~$1K? Firehawks, Hankooks, Kumhos, etc. Preference?
Feel free to send me a PM!

From what I hear, the price on the Hankooks is the best part. Where did you go to get yours?

From what i kept hearing i nearly got the Hankooks due to thier value as well. Only thing was for me i kept getting mixed reviews.
If you don't care about the run-flat and your car isn't tracked, ive heard great things about the Hankooks for daily drivers and handling rain well.
The downside i heard a few times was spiritied driving and HPDE track events that the tires just don't hold up. Now I watched a guy run them at the track and he didn't have anything bad to say but when there are mixed reviews I wasn't sure.
Can't say I was any better going with a BRAND NEW tire, but the Firestone Run-flats were good to me and these are just a newer version without the RFT feature (which I'm not really concerned about).
As soon as they get on my wheels in about 2 weeks ill give them some time. In July they should get a track event under thier belt and hopefully i can give them a thorough review.
Sorry I forgot your name Luke, my apologies
