My interior mirror is loose and drops when hitting bumps in the road. Local chevy dealer said they couldn't repair and need to replace it for $470:>( Whaaaaaat.

There is a ring on the back side of the mirror where that has come off but can't figure out how to remove the mirror to see if I can fix it.

Can anyone provide guidence on removing mirror and fixing problem.

Removing the mirror is easy fixing the problem is another story. turn the mirror assembly at the windshield base about 1/8 turn and it comes off. The hardest part is disconnecting the wires. The ring on the back that keeps tension on the mirror slips over plastic teeth that are probably broken off. They can't be replaced. A friend of a friend can get me one from Chevrolet for $381.00. plus tax. I am using Velcro to hold it now but it is conwstantly needing adjustment. Still working on permanent fix. Have idea put not perfected yet. If you find a way to fix it let me know.l
