Default Warming the car up odd question

Ok this push button ignition is completely new to me...I am curious how this works with out key fob present..I want to start my car when its cold and go back inside and let it warm up but if the car is running i can't use my fob to lock the car it seems...SO my question is if the key fob is not present can someone hop in a drive off in the car if left running?

Silly question I know..lol

In short, if the car is running and the door is not locked anyone could drive your car away - until they turn it off.

Look at it another way. You're driving at 70 MPH down the interstate. The battery in your fob dies. Do you want the car engine to stop running, just because there's effectively no fob present?

Warming up the car is not required nor even recommended !!! However, getting the heater going on a cold morning is understandable ...

The heater is pretty quick anyway if you're driving. Listening to car shows you shouldn't wait more than 15 seconds or so and start driving. Exception would be if you have to get on the gas right away like an on ramp a block from start. Just driveve easy the first few miles.

Sorry to hear that you did not receive an owners manual with the car. Major quality control issue with Chevrolet.

Just kidding. The fob is only required to start the car, not to run it.

Not totally sure, but couldn't you start the car, get out and push the lock button on the fob? Haven't tried this though.

You could - but why? If my car is running and I'm not in it, I'm standing close to it so why lock it...just say'in.

I think you can lock the doors with the FOB if the engine is running. Not sure on this try it, and on your question if the car is running yes someone can get in it and drive it away without the FOB.

Let the car warm up while you drive it. If it is really cold, I just turn on the heated seat until the car gets warm.

Run without the fob, YES. Start without the fob NO.
Drive it slow to warm it.
The coolant warms up quickly.
The oil actually takes quite a while to warm up.

Actually it's a good question
I warm up mine all the time up here in Canada depending on the time of year.
While running, my 06 locks if I use the lock button on the fob or auto locks if I walk away from it.
The alarm will even set while running, with a double fob button press.

Just push the lock button on the door and then close the door and walk away. I do it all the time at the Post Office. It is not recommended to lock the doors with the remote. I have heard that thieves can duplicate the remote signal to gain access to your car. I don't know that to be a fact. You don't need to use a remote for everything.

What car shows? It takes longer than that for the oil to completely circulate a single time.
