FWIW, our car is a 2009 with 21,000 miles; including a lot of construction zones and some gravel roads on a trip out West.
Yesterday I was cleaning the front end of the car, each headlight has one very tiny scar (probably from a rock) that you can barely see. I don't plan on applying any kind of headlight protection.
