Snake oil. Unless of course you use it with 87 octane fuel in which case it adds 82 HP.

Come on, Flat Broke, cut me some slack here.

I was talking to someone who has one of the new Challengers, and he swears that changing out the spark plugs improved his performance.

So, I have to check it out.

There was a long thread here about after-market spark plug wire usage about a year ago. The bottom line was "don't do it". Don't know about the plugs themselves. Do a search because there was talk of the plugs too, I think.

Depending on mods different plugs are superior. Most S/C'd cars use NGK TR6 plugs. One heat range cooler I believe.

Sooooo, you've got 100K miles on your Corvette. If the old plugs didn't suit you, have at it with the new ones.

Peace, out.

Sorry chgoblue. I take everything after "snake oil" back. At my age (67) I have seen all the new finagled plugs make all kinds of claims. 99.9% are just a sales ploy. I think your friend is just wishing because if you can tell just by the seat of the pants feel then the car would have to be making say 20 more HP to notice. I can't see that with plugs unless your old plugs were shot to begin with.

A thought - if that design of spark plug actually gave you better performance and better gas mileage, don't you think that*every* car sold on the planet would come with them installed? GM, Ford, Audi, etc., etc., spend multiple millions of dollars developing and refining all sorts of expensive doodads to get an extra 0.2% mileage out of the cars so as to meet ever more stringent world-wide government standards. If a simple set of spark plugs could do that, they'd be in every car sold. Period. Are they in any new cars sold anywhere? Nope.

A thought - do you really think that the spark plug companies of the world haven't already thought of the E3 design, tested it, and rejected it? 100 years of spark plug development and only now...???

Personally, I'm waiting for the E3 water carburetor...

Thanks, guys. I'll stick with the plugs I have.

And TN 2005 C6, thanks for looking up that old site. Seems to be more of the same.

I'll pass on the plugs.

Funny, how these guys can get so sold on their stuff,...and they believe it.

Yea, Flat Broke I'd have been much better off being a bit more cynical, and I'm 56.

the blower requires colder sparks. I believe this prevents premature detonation. IMHO the stock sparks are sufficient in an N/A motor.

It is amazing how some people will believe that everyone who came before them were idiots who ignored a simple solution for decades. "We went to the moon in a decade so it should be simple to get 100 mpg by just twisting this piece of metal a little bit. Right?" Then there are those who believe everything is magic and it might take 100 years to find the right incantation but once the incantation is discovered then the door is opened and everything is possible.
