[QUOTE=Danno5069;1599518939]I would change oil in boat b4 storage because of possible moisture content. So ive been told will do the same for vette. Its not stored per say as I will start it occassionally and drive it around the block on a dry winter day[/QUOTE

good idea on the moisture... but here in Seattle it rains everyday - so moisture is not a problem you can fix by changing oil.

That is my oil cap. I bought my 05 10 months ago with 32k on it from a used corvette dealer. It came with a 2 year 50k mile engine and transmission warranty. I was told if I used any oil but Mobil 1 5w-30 the warranty is void.
I also use it in my 26 year old inboard ski boat.

This goes decades back, and I don't think it has changed, but I'm pretty sure it's illegal for them (manufacturer? dealer? anyone offering a warranty?) to do that.

Maybe true but Mobil 1 is very good oil, and I don't track my car so why take the chance?

Nobody said you should. My point was whoever sold it to you lied about it.

Okay.Okay. I don't think this little dealership has a contract with Mobil oil to sell only Mobil !. He knew I was a first time Corvette owner and was just trying to tell me not to go and buy Wal Mart oil to save a few bucks. He also impressed upon
me to only use premium gas and if I needed work done to be sure the shop was well versed in Corvettes. All seemed like good advice, so I guess my point is while maybe he can't tell me which oil to use to keep the warranty he was really just protecting me in case I was
an idiot.

Mobil has a rebate going on and Pep Boys has one too. If you do both (which is valid), you can get a 5 quart jug for $6. That makes it the best oil.
