Thinking of this as I have a Passport 9500....the newest one..IX I think. Anyway..how hard is it to do the wiring with the auto dim mirror or the other way? I need to walk out to the car to look but, was wondering if there was a how to with pics? This looks to be an awesome way to mount the radar detector.

Never done it but........be careful messing around with the mirror, the mount is fairly weak and can be problematic. Just FYI check this recent thread:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...lp-needed.html

And Blendmount posted a link to some instructions in post #15 here:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...ntine-one.html

Hope that helps.

agree with Rick; be careful with mirror. once it gets removed from that ball, I think, it has a tendency to loosen up. and it can't be tightened that I know of.

Thanks! I may mount it then go to a meet or something to gain some help. I'll look at it this week to see if I can figure it out..or better said..make sure I can get to it with out breaking it.

When seeking expertise in removing and remounting the mirror assembly, don't forget to ask around at (a) your dealership and (b) their favorite glass shop(s). If it couldn't be done without damaging the mirror mount or assembly, replacement windshields would cost $400 more than they do.

It's not absolutely necessary to remove the mirror assembly to install a Blendmount. It's just a royal reaching straining stretching can't-see-a-damned-thing PITA if you don't.

And the reward when you succeed is very satisfying.

Actually I did there too....however I have the Passport so, did not want to hijack when that was about the Valentine...and mine was more of a how too not buy thread as that one.

I wanted to hear what you guys think. It seems real easy but, I am not the mechanically inclined type so, I can probably screw it up...LOL!

Oh I did plan to ask the dealership..but, one question. Will this in anyway interfer with the warranty on the car? You laugh however I owned a BMW and had this been too it..thier were many claims the warranty would be affected. By several posts and by BMW...so..before I tell the dealer or ask I want to be sure no issues.

So did you ever find out if there is a warranty issue using the mirror ports?

If you have a HUD and buy that spiffy new remote display package from Dashtronix, you won't have worry about getting power from the mirror connector. See http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1575691919-post5.html
