I've owned 3 vettes - 91 coupe, 04 Z06 and my current 07 Z51 - manual. Best steering of all these hands down was the 91 coupe. Best transmission and shifting too. The car was one with the driver. The C5/6 is a way better overall car, but the steering and shifting doesn't offer the same level of feel and feedback as the C4 had. Progress isn't always made in a newer design is my point there....

'08 and '09, Z51, MZ6, NPP Coupes are "The Kind".
'08 Z51
'09 Z51
They provide LS3 with good upgrades, best build quality in '08s, and will be collector cars as the last of the Z51s and they have the greater HP of 430.
I had a '06 Z51 and it was just a tad lesser than the '08......
and you can put an E-Froce SC on the LS3 and it becomes unbelieveable....

what do you mean by "Best Year". Each year should be better than the previous. To the people answering with 08, what about 09, 10, 11? Are they not better? Go deposit a place in line for a 2012 if you want the best year...then the next year 2013 will be better.

Best Years 2007-2009. Thats when the AO was available!
This is as good as logic as any other, many of the colors were only available for a couple of years (yellows, oranges, blues, reds changed).
To the OP, you'll love any C6 you get, any difference from year to year is very subtle. But for someone who went through column lock problems on my C5, I wouldn't get a 2005 for that reason and because of the automatic transmission upgrade from 2005 to 2006 (4 speed vs. 6 speed with paddle shifters).

The answer depends on what you want in the car.
We bought a 2009 Coupe because that was the last year for the Z51 suspension and A6 performance axle in the base coupe.
For me, a close second place would be a 2011 GS with the A6 (performance axle included) and F55 suspension (stiffer bars & springs but magnetic shocks).

We went from a 2006 Z51 A6 to a 2009 Z51 A6.
I was amazed at how much more powerful the new car seemed, and how much lighter & more precise the steering felt.

No brainier here, the best one is always the latest model year. The generation keeps improving each year. The best C-5 is the 2004. best C-2 is the '67 and so on. Now the wild card here is the generation and/or model that you like will be the best choice for you. Simple!

for starters, you would need to to define performance vs features. Performance for the dollar you cant beat the 2008 and 2009 z51 NPP LS3. Feature and Appearance is easily the newest Grand Sport Available. Best of features and performance is the 2011 Z06 carbon

I think year is less important than the condition, mileage and features. I perfer loaded with low mileage. Color was inportant to me also. Others require the extra 30 hp but I rarely use most of the 400 I have. It depends upon your personal tastes and desires. Good luck searching, take your time and enjoy the hunt. If you buy a Corvette you want, it will be the right one.
