Default entry Level Corvette

Hey GM, Let's just do away with the Base Corvette and bring back the Z51 Option and call it the Base/Entry Level Corvette. This way we can get more people to work their way up to the Corvette Line as they can afford them. The Z51 was replaced by the Grand Sport, but some people are not fond of the Wide Body so let's see about bringing a Z51 back for 2012.
Peace, Eran

Yep. So, in recognition of the worst "recession" (ever?) GM launches MORE expensive C6 models. Good thinking there.

I am pretty happy having a Base Coupe Corvette. I have looked into the GS but I cant seem to justify the extra costs in going form a 2009 to 2011. The Base car gives the same Performance and better gas milage than the GS. I understand your being upset. I am sometimes as upset with Chevrolet as anyone. They have never offered the ZR1 with the Paddle Shift. They put the automatic in the high HP Cadillacs but wont put it in the Corvettes. I guess I just dont understand Chevrolets and GMs way of thinking. They just dont seem to listen to what the customers want...

The day GM makes a Z06 vert, then I will look into a move up. My C6 base vert with Z51, NPP, and 4lt options will work just fine until that day comes!!

Not a Poser Dude, we have one of the first Z51s built. Aug 04, and still does what it was intended to do. Have Fun! To each his own, drive what you buy. Afterall, you are the one that paid for what you wanted. Sticker was $52,514.00 in Sept '04. Serious money for a low level, inferior Vette as some people call the Z51 Vettes. Buy what you want, when you want, the only person you had to please was yourself.

Default Base What?

I clicked out of this thread after reading all the comments but got annoyed and came back so sorry in advance for the rant. I bought my first Corvette almost 3 months ago. It's an 07 coupe, a base model with no Bose, Nav, HUD or special handling package. I researched price and was just vaguely aware that there was more than one model before the purchase. Only now, after reading this forum, do I realize there are several models, option packages and, of course horse power. In other words, nobody who isn't even a minimal enthusiast would know the difference by a casual glance. To most, a Corvette is just that, a Corvette: the pinacle of American engineering and the best performance value when compared to any other high performance car on the market. So base model or ZR1, it only matters to who's paying the freight. I for one am tickeled with my 07 coupe. It's the baddest machine I have ever driven and I love it.

My first C6 was a 05 1SA coupe with a base suspension. Sold it and bought a 1SB Z51 coupe. I love both of them. Most important was color for me. DSOM all the way!

Default Z51's

Have owned two Z51's C6's, both Arctic White, one 05' and one 07'...can't explain the feeling one gets from owning a Z51, but its just something that makes it a little more special. You are so right, to the average person, would not mean a hill of beans, but that's too an average person. The Z51's have that little something, you know what I mean?
