Default proper etiquette

Is there a proper signal (and I don't mean the bird) to let a guy know you're not into street racing?

Driving back from Target with the wife and an WRX comes along side me, gives me the two horn honks and a rev. When I didn't bite, he gunned it and cut in front of me. My wife wanted to know why I didn't dust him. No offense to others here, but I don't street race. Twenty years ago, maybe, but seems foolish to me now.

So, is there a preferred "no thanks" response?

Regards,
Larry

Just ask if he has his Pink Slip with him, that usually scares them away. Street racing is for kids, the track is for MEN.

Looked like he wanted to go from a roll (about 35mph) which makes no sense. His awd advantage was gone. Kids these days!

Next time you say, "Yeah, we'll go at the light." Rev a bit to make it look convincing. Light turns green, casually accellerate to the speed limit and make that guy look like an idiot taking off burning rubber and all

But with a lot of those ricers, even normal driving in a 'vette will dust 'em. Even with the fart can.

At the light; I just look around, give 'em a friendly smile and gently shake my head "No".

I DISAGREE....don't do anything to entice the other guy. If you did what you said and the other guy sped off and killed someone IMO you'd be partially responsible. If someone wants to street race consider it a compliment and ignore the guy. BTW the Corvette overconfidence is running rampant as usual. Never underestimate the other guy. There are all kinds of cars you'd least expect that might just blow your doors off. It's not worth finding out in a street race....just saying'.

I did ignore the guy, just wondering if there was an accepted no thanks response. You'd think, here in Southern California I'd get these guys all the time, but I don't remember the last time it happened.

And no, the wife doesn't get to drive it. It is my DD and she asks, but I'd be freaking out. She does want 93 convertible for herself though.

Or just laugh at them, that usually makes them mad enough.
