To me its the fenders that sell the GS

Don't think so.....

It's a win/win proposition. Making a business decision out of something that is a toy is not a recipe for success. Just get the one that makes your hear speed up, and you've made the right decision

New car vs something you have no idea how it's been driven for 8000 miles - new car + $6000 extra in the bank, no brainer...

I went for the 2008 Z06 (10K miles) with an extended warranty. I wanted the LS7.

The first owner is the one who took the hit. This is an opportunity to buy a nearly new Z06 for what should be much less than MSRP.

Does this dealer know the previous owner. That may give you a good idea of how the car was driven.

Historically young jocks drove the hot sticks and the old farts drove the auto. How do I know? I've been there then and now.

So, unless I knew the history, I would opt for the GS.

The Z06 could have been bought by someone living a dream. They tend to not know what they are doing. Riding the clutch, grinding the gears, untill they finally give up. 8K miles kind of gives me that profile.

Maybe not the one to ask here, as owned a ZO6 for several year's now and like it a lot. I do track it. The wide body doesn't matter to me, but was really drawn in by the LS7 and light weight aluminum chassis. The GS carries the highest curb weight of all C6's, so if not a ZO6, would stick with the base model for even a few less $$$'s.

If he's worried about value drop why is he considering a '11 GS? A brand new GS will loose way more value than a used Z06. Someone already ate the depreciation on the Z so buy it.

Based completely on value alone.

Now the GS has alot of the Z06 things added to it for better performance over the base vette other than the engine. But honestly it all comes down to what you, the OP, wants. Do you want to take the top off or not? Are you gonna mod for more power or not? Honestly I dont agree with posting how much one or the other costs cuz it only invites remarks about how good or bad you did. If you like the car and you pay whatever for it, enjoy it. Someone in another thread said it nicely; "How much is happiness worth?"

I got a chance to drive in a Z06. The LS7 compared to the LS3 is a night and day difference, IMHO. The LS7 is a beast, mated to a Z06 body, you have a match made. If the Z06 came in auto (disability reasons), I would have bought a Z06.

He should test drive the GS and test drive the Z06. The answer will then be obvious to the potential buyer.

I vote z06....Getting the GS is like having Shania Twain all alone in bed but she has a giant chastity belt locked on all the good parts....All those curves and no where to go.
