When I got my vette I was going to get a CAI. I did some research and from what I've read just use the money you were going to put on a CAI and add some to it and get headers. I personally just don't think what you get justifies the cost. Seems like the few out there that are the "best" require you to start cutting. I feel that if air is flowing that much better corners are being cut (meaning that the air isn't filtered as well). I'm not an engineer and I'm sure the air is fine but I'll spend my money on other mods. Just my $.02.

The best bang for the buck is the stock intake with DIY mods. Cutting the shroud is no big deal and will let more cooler air in without hurting filtration. Thats what the filter is for, you just might have to clean/replace it a little sooner but the intake will breath better. Headers need to breath too and the stock setup while good IMO was only 95% right. They should have added a scoop to bring air from outside into the intake. They would just had to have tuned it for ram air.

I recommend keeping your money in your wallet. C6 intakes are very efficient.

The best CAI would likely be a hole in the hood with a big scoop.

so has anyone actually measured a temp difference between stock and any of the "cold" air intakes or a pressure difference between stock and any of the "ram" air intakes?

Im sure the temps will be different but I read an article that installed a Vararam on thier car and couldnt get the pressure claims to be valid.

Vararam is a True cold air intake and true ram air, it gets fresh "cold" air from outside of the engine bay.

You might do a search for a thread that's not 8 years old. Recent threads are usually better, since more data is available.
