Default So, the car thinks it's 130+ degrees outside....

I took it to the stealership the other day, and they say that the entire fuse block needs to be replaced due to the odd way it's wired in. Any truth to this? I tried doing my own search but have come up short.

Too add, when I unplug it, it drops to 75*, and I can get some heat going. I've also flushed/replaced all my fluids recently, but this temp issue was a while before that. Thanks.

I have an '08 also and have not heard of any miswired fuse blocks prior to this. My thinking would be that changing the outside air temperature sensor would be the place to start. There are serveral reports here on the forum of those failing once in a while. And you are correct; your climate control system will not work properly without accurate outside air temp information.

Not sure what you are unplugging but I would certainly try a new temp sensor before doing anything as radical as ripping out the fuse box.

Before replacing the temp sensor, you may want to manually reset the temp sensor by pressing the following three buttons at the same time:
  • Rear Defrost (right most climate button)
  • Front Defog (2nd right most button)
  • Fan Speed Increase (4th right most button)
This will force an immediate update of the temperature display. This will fix the problem is the temp sensor is working properly. If not, most likely a new sensor will be needed.

If the new sensor solves the issue (quite likely), I'd take the old sensor back to the dealership, and tell them to stick it where the sun never shines. Then, I'd send a letter to your local GM representative.
Good luck.

Tried this a couple of times and it didn't work. Will order a new sensor today. When I unplugged it and tried resetting it, it too stayed at 75 before going up to 119 the second I plugged it in.

I just ordered this:
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...63938_0_11044_

and this:
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par..._173031_11045_

Hoping for the best. I do not want to spend in excess of 500$ for the r+r of a frickin fuse block.

LOL. I hate dealerships. I swapped out a 8$ sensor and started the car to see after a couple of minutes, it read 51*....Funny, it's 51* here right now....

Thanks!

I think that suggestion about going to the dealer with the "problem part" in hand would be a very good thing. At the least, write that letter. Glad you got it fixed. A fouled up fuse block....really what a crock of

It's on the passenger side directly behind the radiator shroud.

When the "tech" tried explaining his "troubleshooting", it took everything to not laugh uncontrollably at him. My lack of Vette experience is the only reason I went there in the first place .

Default my vette thinks it 46 degrees when it's 79 degrees

I have been having a similar problem with my 2007 vette. For many months now, the outside temperature display show an incorrect external temperature. Some days, it eventually "warms up" and shows what might be the correct temperature. But most days, it's stuck at 59 degrees, no matter what the outside temperature is. Yesterday, the display showed 46 degrees all day long (and I live in southern California...). The car is always garaged and only has 9,000 miles on it (I bought it new).

I will be very interested to try your suggestion to see if it corrects my problem. Thanks to everyone who has contributed their thoughts and ideas. I really hate to take my car into the dealership because I find that they rarely know how to fix a corvette. I sadly miss my corvette mechanic at Scotty's Southwestern Vettes in Albuquerque... he is a genius when it comes to vettes, and I wish I lived closer.
thanks!
